I have no clue what the PS4/XB1/WiiU will be at at the end of this year but I think its safe to say who is winning the year at least.

But onto to 2015 what are you guys predictions? Here is my take on 2015

  • MS will be forced to drop the price of the XB1 again but this time to $299. Sony will follow suit and nintendo will drop their price to $199.
  • PS4 sales will be at least 1.5 times better than whatever they are in 2014. New price coupled with FF15, MGS5:PP, Persona 5 (basically japan will become relevant again).
  • Project Morpheus will be released in some limited capacity.
  • We will see an XB1 redesign.
  • This may sound crazy, but its possible that next year the XB1 will sell even less than it did this year. Call it a hunch..... but my reasoning is cause of the momentum PS4 will build going into the year with Bloodborne and the order. Two AAA games in the first 3 months of the year and nothing from MS.
  • In japan, $299 PS4 may either be released and/or bundled with FF15. Sony needs to do something like this in Japan and they know it.
  • Halo 5 will not do wonders for MS. My reasoning is that I believe that majority of the people that have an XB1 now had a 360 last gen. That MS is not getting "new" customers with the XB1 but rather keeping some of their loyalist. Chances are that by the time Halo 5 gets here, majority of the people that would or could have bought an XB1 for it would already have one.
  • Next year will be the best sales year for the WiiU in the 8th gen.

Just like to coment on a few of your predictions...

1.)  No way MS drops the price that steep, they would be losing too much money, and just annoy investors.  Also, Sony aren't really in a position where they need to worry about Xbox so much, and considering that PS4 is selling so well at $400, and that sony is losing money, they will not care to drop the price any, and especially not $100.  Also...what do you mean price drop 'again'?

2.)  I could see this happening throughtout the first half of the year, but not for the total years sales.  Xbox One has some much bigger exclusives comming next year than this one.  Just think, next year you will have Quantum Break -> Forza 6 -> Rise of the Tomb Raider -> Halo 5 Gaurdians.  And Fable will be mixed in there somewhere maybe late spring/summer, and there is also the possibility of a Gears of War colection.

Halo will be huge for US and UK (already have 2 friends that are waiting for H5 to make the jump), but the other games like Tomb Raider, Quantum Break, and Forza 5 are games that could do quite will in Europe as well.  So I don't think they will sell less...I think they will be up year on year by about 20%.

3.)  Your joking right???  Well, I think it depends on how good the beta goes, and if they have a good E3 showing.  I personally though think it will move a ton of units.

Your right about Halo MCC hurting them, but I think a lot of people are still going to wait simply because of the cost.  Like I mentioned earlier, I know a lot of people who are still waiting for Halo 5....

anyways, few disagreeances aside, you have some nice predictions in there!

Lol at Halo not having a huge impact. Why do you think the Xbox is even around? Halo.

Halo CE was the reason to own the OG Xbox, and Halo 2 cemented that. Halo 3 was the reason the 360 had very good sales at the beginning of it's life (they had at least 8 million users (Halo 2 fans) to sell to at the time). Halo MCC will bring back some of the Veterans so they can transition to Halo 5 easily, and then when Halo 5 launches, sales will be ridiculous.

Halo has always been record breaking when it launches, and Microsoft will do whatever it takes to make sure Halo 5 not only sells to the existing player base, but brings in new players.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

  1. Agreed, that prediction may have been a bit overzealous. But a $50 price drop is pretty much a given. As for sony matching the price, as I said its not really about worrying about the XB1. Its about moving more consoles. The only thing stopping sony right now is sony themselves. MS will be dropping their price to prevent the gap from getting too large too quickly, sony on the other hand will be doing it to increase their market share as fast as possible.

  2. Yes, XB1 does have some great games coming out next year.. no doubt about that. But the only real stand alone games in its list are Fable and QB. One of which is a new IP. By stand alone games I mean that every other game they are releasing is more or less a follow up to an existing IP from the franchise on the XB1. Hqlo MCC will have no doubt take away some sales from halo 5 and forza 4 and forza horizon has pretty much moved over most of the forza fanbase already. But if the XB1 has as bad as a first 9 months or even worse as it has this year, then all those games combined, even if they amount to 5M in sales... will not do much to the overall XB1's years end bottom line.

  3. That was actually my boldest prediction. You can't make predictions without throwing something crazy into the mix. tht was one of mine :)

That last one is pretty bold.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

i can see MS dropping the price of the XB1 to 299$ and im pretty sure Sony will drop it to 349$ regardless of what MS does.

My own predictions are:

1. Both XB1 and PS4 price will drop by $50 because their off-the-shelf parts will become much cheaper. Even then both MS and Sony will net much higher profits from hardware sales in 2015 than they are getting now.

2. PS4 will have a much higher baseline sales next year because by then its library will build up a lot on top of it having many more AAA exclusives and many key multiplats on top of the price cut.

3. XB1 will also sell a lot more because it will also have a much bigger library of games by next year on top of it having a massive exclusive like Halo 5: Guardians and many other smaller AAA exclusives. Baseline sales however woulds be lower in the first half of the year due to having fewer exclusives compared to PS4.

4. Wii U sales will be similar to its baselines sales a couple of weeks after MK8, but this time due to SSB. However next holidays it will do well with a $50 price cut and TLOZ.

I expect the normal thing that used to happen except for one condition.

Sony to make massive gap in the early part of the year as they have lots of releases, but unlike previous years where MS takes a big chunk back (ps3 vs x360) I expect Sony to keep the lead.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

All I know is that the PS4 will do great in early 2015 (first 4-6 months) and the others (probably) will not
What happens after that is a bit of a mystery due to lack of release dates

2015

PS4 quadruples its two competitors.

Wii U's peak year is actually this year. No way it will sell 19 mil by the end of 2015. No...freaking....way.
