Forums - Gaming Discussion - Crytek Explains Why They Are Not Bringing Ryse Son of Rome To PS4

Would you want Ryse on PS4?

Yes, and would buy it 16 7.48%

Yes, but just to piss X1 fanbase 39 18.22%

No, because I'm not interested in the game 143 66.82%

No, because I want PS4 to have no games 16 7.48%

Total:214

The game is antiquated as is. Who is going to want to play some old relic like Ryse when there's great software coming out later this year and in 2015 on PS4? Just watch somebody else play it online. It's a very dull game during much of its ride.

Haha that's such a non-answer with so little info that I expected it to be a dualshockers article,

Irony?

The obvious reason is they hate money. Why make it for 3 similar platforms when you can ignore the 2nd biggest one.

Sometimes strange things happen, you could be closer from truth than we imagine even while joking.

IDK, I think they just have a contract with MS saying they can't bring it to PS4. I get the feeling the contract for Dead Rising 3 is the same way. Otherwise I'm pretty sure along with the PC versions they would've announced the PS4 versions. That's just my theory though.

Unless Phill Spencer lied (or don't know much about the deals, both I find hard) he said TR were limited time and they didn't own the IP (and named DR3 as being the same case, not sure if he named Ryse) so what the dev/pub do after the deal time is their problem... so maybe the PC clause is shorter than PS4 or Phill haven't told the whole truth (console exclusive, but then the dev could say it) or it's like 3-5 exclusive on consoles, so they don't own, but removed from the platform basically.

That doesn't really explain anything about the lack of PS4 version of this perfect 60 game.

Does anyone even want Ryse though?

What ever happened with Crytek financial troubles? Just wondering. As a PlayStation owner, I have zero interest in Ryse. Never looked fun to me.

I am fairly indifferent about Rye at the moment -- maybe at the beginning of the year I would have wanted to play it simply because of the nice visuals and paucity of games on the ps4. However, right now I have no intention of wanting to play it. Even if it did release on ps4 I doubt the sales would justify the cost of developing the game.

I think they realise ryse would struggle to sell on the PS4 given it's history an general critique , not gonna be a huge seller on the PC either but they hope to tap in on 4k and graphics and sell the the engine.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

PS4 owners are generally not interested in Ryse and they probably know it.
