Obviously the 3DS can't run this game, but Square-Enix in Japan is now offering games like DQX on 3DS and Final Fantasy XIII on smartphones in Japan via cloud streaming (so the system itself doesn't have to run the game). So theoretically they could put FFXV on the 3DS in Japan, especially now that n3DS models have a a second analog stick. 

Since 3DS is going to be the only platform in Japan with a userbase well over 10 million any time in the near future, maybe this wouldn't be a bad play for Square-Enix. 

It would make more sense than releasing a XBox One version there (if they were still planning to do that). For the first time in 10+ years the main Final Fantasy could actually be on Japan's no.1 gaming platform. Perhaps that can help with the FF's series' recent declining sales in Japan. 

FF is not Japan exclusive, so makes more sense (specially now) release on PS4

I think its because of the resolution and DQ is cartoony so resolutions isnt that much of a big deal.

If streaming can work, I think KHIII might be a better idea/possibly be easier to stream to the N3DS.

What? I mean... What? You serious? I think you're toooo far away from reality, dude. 3DS/New 3DS doesn't have game streaming like Vita and 3DS hardware can't handle FFXV, not even in dreams.

Keep up guys. Streaming Square-Enix software is already on the 3DS, Dragon Quest X for 3DS is 100% streamed to the 3DS (there isn't even a cartridge inside the box, just a voucher):

Final Fantasy XIII will also be coming to smartphones soon in Japan in the same way.

Every system can stream games to it, just like any system can run Netflix movies.

My guess is this is easier to do in Japan, a relatively small country (land mass wise) so SE can have more local servers.
