Forums - Gaming Discussion - Forbes: Retail Hallucinations And The Pointlessness Of Owning A PlayStation 4 or Xbox One

I have to agree with this article. I don't yet own a Xbox One or PS4. But I'm still playing my 360 every day, enjoying the games, and caring little for graphical improvements. The games coming out now on the current gen systems do little to convince me to buy the consoles.

Consoles have only been out for 10 months..   As we continue into 2015..  less releases will hit last Generation. When game developers can focus on just the PS4/X1 you will see better titles hit the market. The average consumer usually ignore the "next-gen" for the first 2 years..   Most consoles don't hit their stride until the 3rd holiday..   for X1 we will have Halo 5.. and Uncharted 4 for PS4.   These will be the titles that start bringing over the average consumer.

For most there is little reason to on a console the first year.. unless you like to be an early adopter..

PS4: 85-95m
X1: 55-65m
WiiU: 20-30m

I did not read, but... I am legitimately shocked how many gamers I know already own the PS4. Even some of the ones that do not play it that much.

I have to agree with this article as of right now. It doesn't help when the most appealing product on the ps4 is TLOU and on xbox one MCC, both remasters of games from older generations.

Do not forget the Diablo 3 Remaster!!! Poor Wii U though. People have no idea what they like.

Forbes is creating more doom articles than we are creating Doom threads. Nice

yup it really is pointless to buy a ps4 if you have a ps3. the ps3's share button is awesome, and has great party chat. Second son also looks exactly the same. In fact the PS3 grows extra cells so that it can display all these new games at 1080p, and will continue to do so for years to come..

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

Well, since SNES I always bought at least one console per gen at release and maybe even two (Dreamcast and XBox as example). This gen I still don't own any of the "new" consoles so that also  don't really feel whatever I felt the generations before to get them at release. It's definitely not less interest in gaming since I do that still as much as 20 years ago.

But Forbes likes the WiiU. I think the moon is ready to explode.

interesting article, thanks for posting!
During the transition stage, the argument works. But it won't really hold up as well when developers stop supporting last gen.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
