Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy 15 Trailer TGS 2014 Tetsuya Nomura steps down! UPDATE: New showcase demo!

Square Enix debuted a new trailer for Final Fantasy XV at the Tokyo Game Show.

Additionally, the publisher announced that Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy Type-0, will now serve as the director of Final Fantasy XV, allowing previous director Tetsuya Nomura to focus his full attention on Kingdom Hearts III.

“In reviewing our development structure, we have decided to assign Hajime Tabata as the new director for Final Fantasy XV. Currently, Tabata and the entire development team are working, whole-heartedly, towards completing the production of Final Fantasy XV and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Final Fantasy title to date,” said Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda regarding the staff changes. “We invite every one of our fans to view the fruits of our labor through Final Fantasy XV’s demo, and promise to present a game that further surpasses expectations when the finished product is released.

“As the director of Final Fantasy XV, Tetsuya Nomura has mainly worked on the original concept for the story and universe in addition to creating the characters. Hereafter, he will be focusing his efforts on the production of titles that can only be made possible by Nomura, himself, and delivering products that exceed the quality of past titles, starting with another one of his representative projects, Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix will continue to work on these titles with the best staff formation in an effort to deliver them to everyone as soon as possible and appreciates your continued support.”

Edit/Update!:

Square Enix showcased a live gameplay demo of Final Fantasy XV during a Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Talk Show stage event at the Tokyo Game Show.

Additionally, director Hajime Tabata shared new details on the “Episode Duscae” demo included with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

“Duscae” is the name of one of the areas in the game world—not a pun on the Japanese “desu ka,” which translates to “Is it?” The length of the demo is about one hour if you don’t explore, but can last up to four hours otherwise.

The demo will include a piece of the overworld and possibly a dungeon. Players will be able to drive the car around on their own, or have a party member drive. If timing allows for it, chocobos might also be in. There won’t be any boss battles, but there will be “something more amazing” that “Final Fantasy fans will really like.”

Despite Square Enix seemingly confirming the demo will launch day-and-date with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Tabata said that they’re “trying” to launch the demo the same day as the game.

The footage shown, which Tabata dubbed the “Overture” tech demo, showcased the game’s dynamic weather, including rain detailed to the point where places under objects don’t get wet. And when it’s sunny, it dries up as you move along. The game also features a dynamic day-night cycle complete with lighting transformation.

Also shown is Noctis’ sword warping system. You’ll use an reticle to aim and toss your sword, warping from location A to B.

Finally, Tabata said he the next update at Jump Festa in December.

We think it’s safe to expect regular updates from hereon.

FF15 "The Overture" showcase demo starts at 22:35

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Finally!

That last line though...

"Final Fantasy XV: The Final Road Trip."

Do. Want.

I'm so fucking hyped for this game.

Superb! Final Fantasy meets Read Dead Redemption... With wheels!

that Xenoblade feeling. Now I want this game

unbelievable...

This is not fair for Nomura. Himself and his team has sacrifice development time for FFXV (FFvXIII) to help make FFXIII/FFXIII-2/FF-Lightning Return and to rebound FFXIV:ARR.

This is what I think really happen.. SE want FFXV to go multiplatform, therefore Nomura couldn't achieve his full vision by focusing on one console, so he step down like a boss..

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

So now it's some weird fantasy road trip game? Oy, how many times are they gonna fundamentally overhaul this thing? It's a different game every time we see it. It does look better than what we've seen before, but we're probably still no closer than ever to actually playing it.

Not as epic as the E3 2013 trailer but it does show off the open world of this game.

Btw, that last bit with Noctis saying, `It`s been a long time coming, almost there..`

That line gave me goosebumps!

EDIT: Maybe with Nomura stepping down signifies that KH3 could come out sooner..?
