I'm liking the seamless transitions from world map into gameplay. Reminds me a lot of FF13.

Towns have gotten better with Xillia IMO. The worlds (design-wise) in Graces and Xillia weren't so good though, but Zestiria looks like a big improvement.

I don't know, the only city I liked was the capital in Xillia. I think I just miss the charm of the past titles a bit. Graces felt really dull, and Xillia 1 (haven't played 2) felt like it was a shortened version of a tales game.
