Killzone 2 had the most brown and gray colors I've ever seen in a game, but I loved it because it was so well executed. Never finished the game, but I remember the heavy controls very well. I liked that aspect too. I tried the demo of Killzone 3, and while it was fun, I missed a little of the heavier controls.

Playing Shadow Fall right now actually, and think it's great. I'm not the best fps player, and I die a lot, even on easy. Killzone 2 was much easier even with the heavy controls. But it's still fun, and I feel awesome when I clear an area of enemies, that's how hard I think it is. The graphics are terrific too.

If you were having war in Iraq

It would be expected to have a brow/grey pallete... and since most war places get scorched and dust I actually find it strange expecting collorfull pallete on a war zone.

Even if the cenario is a jungle/subdeveloped country.

Killzone 3 however also had some great moments (not anything as hard or rewarding as the Radec boss fight), but it was more consistent (in quality as in it doesnt become as repetitive) and it had more variety on the levels, including some vehicle levels, and i really liked the control scheme this time arround, (and yes the control scheme is like COD, but who cares thats the best scheme for an FPS), so i ended up liking KZ 3 more than KZ 2.

havent played Shadow Fall and i dont know if i will, maybe it will be on PLUS some time on the future.

EDIT: and in KZ 3 you didnt have to empty the entire guns magazine to kill another player which to me was a huge improvement over KZ 2, this time you only had to shoot half or maybe a quarter of your magazine to take another player down, which is more in line on the type of shooter that i like.

That is actually it why I'm not getting. Killzone 2 had a very dedicated fanbase and a lot of people enjoyed it because it didn't play like the other games. If I want to play something like CoD, well, there are a lot of games in that franchise that can give you the experience, no need for another franchise to try and do the same.

and i was part of that Killzone 2 fanbase and i supported Killzone (unlike the people that you assume wanted Killzone to change but never bought it when it changed).

Also i like Killzone story and setting more than COD or BF, and i really liked the heavy feel that your character had in KZ (althoug some people complained that it make them dizzy, i was OK with it and i liked it), and i never wanted anything in Killzone to change, the only thing that i wanted was the OPTION to change to a much easier or comfortable control scheme, wich KZ 3 did and i think that in KZ 3 you could change the control scheme to classic KZ or to the more generic but more comfortable FPS scheme.

i never wanted or asked for a more generic and colorful KZ like shadowfall i simply wanted the option to change the control scheme so DONT blame my for KZ going out of its original path, because i bought and supported every Killzone on the PS3, and i didnt bought Shadowfall because just like you said it doesnt seems like Killzone anymore plus it didnt live to expectations.

EDIT: And i never asked for any actual changes to the franchise, heck i NEVER even asked them to change the control shceme yet they did it because i guess some other people wanted the same option that i wanted for a more comfortable control scheme

KZ2 is also my favorite Killzone

Why is it I'm running into more news about Killzone than Titanfall? I thought Titanfall was GOTY and all that months ago, I guess not....

Anyways, my only wish is if Guerilla did what they did with Killzone 2 (Besides the amounts of gray/green and floaty controls) to the sequels, everybody will be fine (Besides haters gonna hate). Then again, Killzone 3 and Shadow aren't as bad as people want you to believe, so I must not complain. Now, when will Guerilla improve the purpose of the word "character" that isn't a Space Nazi wearing a mask with glowing red eyes.

I am interested in how Guerilla Games will execute in their latest IP codenamed Horizon, I am excited to see how Guerilla's talent wil perform beyond the Killzone series A.K.A. a first person shooter series.

I'm sorry for ruining Killzone!

moderately off topic question: Kill Zone Shadowfall is in my local Game for a tenner preowned; worth picking up on payday?

Absolutely. It's a solid game, no question about that. And since the initial reviews, it has added a lot of features and content. £10 is a good price IMO. I'm enjoying the solo play. While it's no that special, it's solid and has great visuals. The controls are fine, the story and characters are meh though. There's also a bit of variation to your style of play, you can sneak around a lot more than the other Killzones.

I haven't played the MP yet though so my opinion of the game could really improve.

My biggest peeve of the Killzone series is the portrayal of the enemy. As someone said earlier, they are like Ultra Nazis. It's just too much of a "Oh we're the good guys, and these are the bad guys." I always wanted a bit more ambiguity on this. Like where are the Helghan children, schools, hospitals etc? Are they a society? Because they are never portrayed as being a people rather than just almost robotic killers.

KZ SF does a little to address this, but the series lost its charm for me by being so on the nose that every Helghan is literally worse than Hitler

I'm glad they're moving on from Killzone. They should've done that after 2 but better late than never.

Killzone 2 was just terrible singleplayer-wise.
Multiplayer was better though.

It wasn't the consumers that killed it, it was the consumers of other rival systems that mocked it for the things that made it great.

What? How would this happen? By then Gears would be dead, Halo and COD even more as being mocked from every fanbase.
