Forums - Sony Discussion - Will Sony fire Kaz Hirai?

I see comments about Don Mattrick on here, but let's be honest. Don Mattrick wasn't the only one who helped create the Xbox One design and was nothing more than the scape goat. If you read about his work with Microsoft before he became CEO, he's one of the people who's responsible for the Xbox brand being as big as it is in the first place.  He's not the Ken Kutaragi of Xbox, but he's similar.  One of the people responsible for the systems success, one massive mistake and he loses his position.

Kaz has been given chance after chance. Like Don, he has the final say in what goes, so while it's not entirely him that's making these decisions, he's passing them. Kaz hasn't made just one massive blunder, he's made several. Kaz is really undeserving of the position as the company has went further into debt with him at he helm.

That's a bit harsh. If your previous captain puts giant holes in your boat, it's not really your fault that the ship is sinking. Especially if you try your hardest to fix the holes. Not fixing all holes at once is not a blunder. I'm not saying that someone else coldn't have done it better but if the ship is deeper in the water than it was before you took over that's not your failure, that's physics.

By your logic every leader of a first world country is the worst ever because under every new leader the debt grows.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Sony's problem is something that cannot be resolved in just a year. It's going to take quite a while for Kaz to fully right the ship. While he has done some good things for the company, the main issue I have with him is the lack of immediacy. There are a bunch of things that he should've done a lot sooner and that would've lessen the losses.

If they continue to lose money year after year, then yea, eventually, they will

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

He has one more year at least, probably two. If they are still bleeding money like crazy, he probably will get the boot then (summer 2016 say).

Do you think some of the members of the executive board should get the boot, too?

Sonys need to get rid of there divisions that are not makeing money like there phones and pc and laptops.

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

It's not as simple as getting rid of their CEO but more about cutting out or improving failures of some of their departments but yes when a company keeps posting losses the CEO and a few other higher ups are usually the ones to get the boot.

Sony as a whole need a faster re-haul of the weaker parts of their company. Create cheaper more affordable brands so you can complete in those markets or cut them out entirely as their bleeding you dry.
