Forums - Gaming Discussion - Destiny's first raid tallies 1600+ deaths

So it appears that Destiny might have taken a page from the Souls series and made the first raid content beyond challenging. 6 players died over 1600 times through the course of this completion. Is news like this about a game a good thing or a bad thing? Should more companies follow suit in making raids an accomplishment when finished? MMOers what are your thoughts? Has anyone actually tired the raid to confirm it is indeed that challenging? Discuss away.

Wow.

You probably have to grind for a while before you're able to play it. 1600 deaths...

I doubt I've died even 200 times yet. That's playing over 30 hours now, many of them in the crucible.

Raids you need actual friends to invite to the game in order to play right? (no matchmaking?)

yea it has no matchmaking for raids as they thought it would be to hard for complete strangers, some of which wont have microphones.

Ah ok, I guess that  makes sense. Would of been nice to have matchmaking for it though

Yeah I'm not going to try that until much later.

psht. ethomaz solo'd it.

If im not mistaken I thought raids were clan only? Also I saw all their levels ranging from 26 to 28. So it sounds like it'll be an extremely long time before the nonhardcore complete the raid.

You can join a clan or make  your invites open to the public .

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

there are many "whole group just dies" situations in the raid if you don't shoot something quickly enough
