Poor Woobles, time to find a new main.

I take it, the Ice Climbers are fan favorites like Dry Bones in Mario Kart?

They have a novel mechanic unique to them, I think people are more upset at that loss rather than the character.

Besides Rosalina does something similar now, so their inclusion is even less necessary.

Tradition/Nintendo history is the only reason to include them at this point.

Huh, so it was CPU problems, seriously?

That makes no damn sense.

Not really...

The game is already pushing hardware, and Ice Climbers are a complex character.

When the stages are different what is preventing them from making Ice Climbers a WiiU only feature? Its not like the game is going be cross-platform-play anyway (was cancelled)

Both games also have different single player modes.

I wonder the same. Also, what is so bad about the moveset of Ice Climbers, that they require more horsepower? Maybe Namco can add it as a DLC on WiiU (with other stuff, like the MK8 DLC).

Well since ice climbers is practically 2 characters   its basically 5 players on screen when 1 player plays them and then think about 4 players picking the ice climbers then you have 8 characters on screen and then some pokemon and assist trophies etc....

I somewhat can see how that can be problematic especially when being online.

I wonder if they'll return in future iterations, or if they are considered obsolete.

After all, their original purpose was to represent the classic NES era, but since their addition they've sort of been replaced in that regard by Pit, Mega Man, Duck Hunt, even Little Mac in a sense. Maybe Ice Climbers are even irrelevant to Smash now.

If 3DS Smash ends up being a good way to play the game, I really don't see why the Wii U one would sell as well on one quarter the install base.  In fact it seems to me like every time they announce a new feature, it's a 3DS exclusive.  They're shooting themselves in the foot.  If the graphics are the only major difference, people aren't going to buy a whole console just to take advantage of that when they've already got a 3DS.

Hopefully they're just holding back on giving us much on the Wii U version until the 3DS one is out.  Because I'm not really seeing a reason to wait.

No, that's not the only difference.

Only thing they share is the base modes and a roster. You have not watched any of the directs that talked about this and it shows in statements like the one I bolded.

Makes perfect sense, CPU needs to render all that plus do all the calculations for where the second ice climber is. GPU is only there to put that image on the screen.

I WANT MY MEWTWO GOD DAMNIT!!!

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

But you have a more multi-object character in Olimar! Six times as much extra load!

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

But ice climbers have more polygons between them than Olimar. Where as pikmin can be done in a few polygons. Ice climbers are near identical pallet swaps with the same poly count
