Forums - Gaming Discussion - I miss 7th Gen

Imo I really like how 7th Gen played out. They're really wasn't a dominant consoles even if you called the wii a dominant console No one could use this sales to say it was a way better console. No one could use sales to say someone made the right choice or wrong choice . you couldn't go wrong with it. Same with handheld the ds might have sold much better but the psp held its own. Now we have a broken ps handheld brand that will most likely not have a successor :(. And gaming fans seem much more violent. Xbox fans are bitter that it lost fans. Ps fans are arrogant. Nintendo fans tend to not get the time of day and are ridiculed for having a weaker console. 7th Gen felt like a more comfortable Gen for everyone

For example I said I wanted a wii u and my friends laughed but if I said a wii last Gen none of them would have cared. Imo the wii u is much better than the wii. In fact I never bough t a wii

To be honest, i prefer gens when one console dominates the others. For some reason, the rivals seem to come up with lots of really good games and i end up buying them all. I particularly like the ps1 and ps2 era's because of that.

Yeah last gen was much more interesting. One console dominating is boring.

The 7th gen wasn't a more comfortable gen for everyone, not for PS fans. Especially at the beginning of that gen there was a lot of hate against the PS3 and PS lost their dominant position during that gen. Now they sort of returned to their original position which they had during the PS1/PS2 era. So nothing really changed actually, it was always like this, the 7th gen was just different.

By the end of the 7th Gen people were comfortable with owning aps3 they're want as much hate. You don't have to be dominant to be comfortable

That also applies to Xbox/Nintendo then if you're using that logic (end of thread ;P). Point is that PS was always dominant, so to the fans that was the comfortable position.

I liked it because it defined what a generation jump should do from consoles.

- HD graphics
- Crisp visuals
- Full Downloadable games
- Online gameplay
- STANDARD WIRELESS CONTROLLER (holy shit this blew my mind)

7th gen was my favorite.

I miss the the seventh gen as well. There just hasn't been any games with that "wow" factor in this generation. For the most part, all the developers are playing it safe. So many sequels and remasters. The first couple years are when new franchises are born. So far we have received Knack and Ryse out of Sony/Microsoft respectively. The WiiU has faired a little better but it has not shown anything mind blowing either. I love the capabilities of all three machines. The games have just been very underwhelming so far :(
