Forums - Sales Discussion - UK Charts Week Ending 13 September 2014 (Destiny #1, PS4 46%)

TLOUR holding strong

Destiny's performance, no surprise there. Surprised by the 50/50 ratio for both PS and XB platforms respectively LOL

So theoretically, if it did 500k total:
PS4 = 230k
XBox 1 = 180k

Can you show me the offical number for Xbox One from either the official tracker or MS?  I haven't seen that.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-09-09-ps4-passes-1m-sales-mark-in-the-uk

PS4 a bit over tracked. by 20k~ or something. xb1 its hard to say whether its under or over, because we know just the ratio with PS4. but its in the same ballpark.

So there is no evidence then?

Thats what I thought.

So how is PS4 doing compared to competitor Xbox One in the UK? Eurogamer understands the sales ratio to be 1.5:1, so if PS4 has sold 1m, then Xbox One has sold around 666,666.

thats right from the article.

UK Hardware by Platform

PlatformWeekly (change)Total
PS4 9,930 (+1%) 1,008,805
XOne 6,237 (+6%) 655,668

It is very interesting that 360 owners are still buying whilst PS3 owners aren't. This clearly indicates that more PS3 owners have jumped to next gen sooner.

Seems like a good thing for PS4 as people often buy what their friends already own and switching console brands each gen seems like common practice  British and American gamers.

Thats a weird thing to say.  Think about it.

What? That later buyers of this gen that are 360 owners are likely to buy the PS4 because there are more of them out there. It has been shown many PS4 owners never owned the PS3, rather the competitions consoles. A trend that could likely continue.

"Eurogamer understands" doesnt count as evidence in my book.

VGC console ratio PS4:XB1 1.5:1

Destiny ratio PS4:XB1 1.27:1

Along with the recent information on total software and the resultant tie ratio's, means that either ONE owners buy far more software or the ONE is undertracked. Probably the former, for now.

Or C) PS4 owners buy more games digitally!

Highly unlikely.

OT.  Alos, dont forget that this counts bundles for Destiny too.

Digital library isn't comparable between the two. There are more digital games on the PS4. So it's "highly likely" that digital sales are higher for games that don't exist on the One in the first place. And it's highly likely that PS4 sell more multiplatform games digitally because you can start playing your games once enough is downloaded to play the first stages of any game.

Okay you want evidence... well Microsoft has provided none, so then Xbox One = 0 and PS4 = 1 million+.  Nothing but offical statements matter so then there is no evidence that a single Xbox One has been sold.    Thats what I thought.

But the inference from this games sales actually prove that isnt the case.  It shows that a hugh percentage of PS3 owners have gone over.   And it hasn't been "shown" actually, its just sony marketing "saying" it... after all its a clever tactical thing to say that cant be proven or disproved.

360:PS3 in the UK is 1.5:1, this game on those platforms is 3.5:1 which can ONLY show that more PS3 owners have jumped to the new gen

If 360 owners havent jumped as much yet then we dont know where they will jump yet do we.

Why exactly do you think Destiny sales will line up exactly with hardware ratios?  When Borderlands 2 (a good comparison to Destiny genre wise) came out the 360 hardware sales were 55% higher than the PS3.  BL2 software sales were 220% higher on 360 in the UK.

All it takes is for a game to sell only 50 thousand copies less than on PS4 for XOne fans to start believing in miracles again.

^Nah, I just think and it only proves that XBO gamers-base only care a lot more for these type of games, FPS to be exact. Ratio for FPS games has always been always higher to XB than on PS platforms.
