I imagine we're well past the possibility of a single game doing it, especially since the industry seems to be splintered into three sizeable sets of core gamer, and a few other groups that are healthy enough in size; the big ones currently being a Nintendo centric handheld core (3DS), a third-party centric home-console core (PS4), and an online retail centric PC core (Steam). Even beyond that all three groups have a major provider (Nintendo, console centric third-parties, and PC centric studios) and countless smaller agents (indies).
Its easy to say the industry is indestructible, but is anything really indestructible? - I want to hear your doomsday scenarios, where the PSP-Morte and the Ultra NES can't take over if the current models fail, and where PC gaming also becomes unsustainable.
(This came to my mind after I made a joke about Destiny being the new ET and Captain Toad being the new Mario.)
