Just as the title states, can we PLEASE ban Amazon Hourly?  We have 2 or 3 members making threads almost daily (it's got to be at least once or twice a week) using Amazon hourly bestsellers to "prove" the Xbox One is ahead in sales.  This isn't really a problem with what console they are pushing, but what data they are using to support their case.  Let me tell you why.

First of all, the hourly bestsellers are just that, products that have sold the best for the hour.  Which means THEY CHANGE EVERY HOUR.  So, there is no point in creating a thread about how the sales line up when you see them, since within an hour or two they can change and make you look rather foolish.  Also, considering the fact that it is only for the hour, the difference in sales could be as much as a few dozen units (if they are only a few spots apart), to as little as a couple of units.

And second, if you want to even be taken seriously, use the numbers that actually mean something.  That is the MONTHLY Bestsellers, if you are trying to get a feeling about how NPD could go,  and the YEARLY Bestsellers, which gives you an idea of how things stack up for the year.  Of course, as with any site's/store's numbers, you have to remember that they only represent a fraction of the market.  Still, they can be a good representative of how things are going in other stores, even if not always accurate.

So, that's my message.  What are your thoughts?  Anyway, I'm off to club some seals.

and where would be the fun?

monthly and yearly still okay?

First time I am hearing of this.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Agree people rely too much about Amazon hourly ranking

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I say leave it alone. It just reveals people who try to claim anything big from solely hourly rankings are idiots. So it's an idiot detection tool.

I will ask this again, when did the joke about clubbing seals stop?

Lol, of course they are ok.  That's what I said in the  OP.  Or did you even read it?

Yea, I don't know.  I think it was the beginning of this gen.  I think it stopped because Amazon has actually been right in predicting which console came out on top in NPD for every month since the PS4 and XBO launched.  Though, I think we should bring it back for people who try to use hourly sales to prove a point, even if the monthly sales paint a completely different picture.

your post makes too much sense to be taking seriously.

Lets us all go ahead and ignore everything he just said.

Hourly shows how things change when something new happens. I mostly agree. But it seems like you're just salty about positive Xbox one news

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion
