It got overhyped and under-delivered and Activision has Damage Control going so... I think most of it is fair cause there is no excuse for such a short story mode on a $60 game even if it is an MMO

Bungie is the one doing damage control.  All Activision did was publish and promote the hell out of the game, which is exactly what they're supposed to do.

Mhmm, I will change it then, thanks

Just like Call of duty

The difference is COD doesn't try to pretend it's the biggest thing since sliced bread every year... everyone knows exactly what they're getting when they pick up the annual COD installment, same as Madden and FIFA.

When you have a new IP that's being advertised as the next big thing, and the story makes the average COD campaign look like an Oscar worthy script while the multiplayer does nothing that every single shooter since COD4 hasn't already done, that's a recipe for some serious disappointment and backlash against the hype.

It's people fault wif they believe what ads say it's their fault but i'm sure a lot of people like the game too

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

That's another thing that's bothering me. It's like 10 hours long isn't it? When has that become "too short"...? I mean, seriously.

10 hours is pretty short if the story is not very memorable (which I hear it isn't)

I feel a good game will speak for itself.

I also feel that destiny could have been so so so much better. It deserves the hate its getting and this is coming from a guy that bought he destiny PS4 (well in truth i bought a white PS4).

Saw a reviewer who's review score counts for metacritic say there is too much grind in the game. The first thing that came to my mind was, did someone trick you and not tell you what you were about to review?

Seems like the popular thing to do now is complain how Destiny didn't cure cancer and give a 75 review score.

But, me and my fireteam are having fun and gearing up for the Raid coming Tuesday! :)

Thanks jlmurph!

The problem isn't really that it is too short on time, its that it is too short on content...the actual story is about 6 hours long, however much time it takes to beat is due to grinding, and the 6 hours is highly repetitive (and the grinding is even worse)

I think industry leaders were too hopeful when it comes to online only games. COD is NOT the rule, but the exception. People don't see the value in a $60.00 online title. Maybe this will mean $40.00 online titles or better single player story modes?

It happens to those games that disappoint.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

So game scores aren't objective? I mean if a site rates the game should it take into accout the hype as well or give the game the score it deserves?

What I'm trying to say is that cod games get 90ish metacritic scores year after year but destiny gets 75 even if according to most people who've tried it say that it's better than any cod (I haven't played it so I don't have an opinion). So the critical response as you say is backlash against the hype... I'm not buying it, sorry.

This happens to any overhyped game. EDIT: that doesn't live up to expectations, of course. (Though sometimes expectations are unreachable)

GTAV was overhyped too but still got great critical response. I think this has more to do with the whole MS - Sony competition and that many people are disappionted that this bungie game is not an xbox exclusive. If this was Halo 5: Destiny everyone would be calling a "generation defining game".
