pointing to instances such as the "damsel in distress" and "women are helpless victims" tropes which can be demonstrated in games such as mario

well there was an outroar a few weeks back about death threats that were directed at anita sarkeesian on twitter, which were so alarming that she was forced to leave her home

however, after digging into the issue a little people have found that certain details don't quite add up:

Maybe not but probably over exaggerated. Nowadays "I don't like you" counts as bullying and "I hate you" counts as death threat.

I mean really? Someone on the internet says something and you have to leave your house for that?

It doesn't even surprise me. Not in the least. I do not like this woman and what she represents. She could explain her arguments, which are very valid for the most part, in a less bitchy and aggressive tone, I would be ok. HELL, if she was a real gamer, I would actually respect her for taking a stand in her believes. But no. She is a waste of time and I hope stops being even remotely relevant.

Let a real woman, who happens to be a gamer, make her arguments for her.

Who cares really? People need to stop giving this hustler so much attention. The only thing she's doing is destroying the industry. She even admitted she's not a gamer.

edit: also another point to note is that she is (whether intentionally or not) pushing the idea that gamers are misogynists

Most of her arguments are pretty absurd, and she has now idea what she's talking about at times. I remember a video where she says the only good thing from Bayonetta is that she's a single mother (?). The way she sees Mario's quest as the "objetification" of Peach instead of "trying to save a loved one" is one of the better examples of her spinning things A LOT.

Plus, she mentions all the "threats" she receives on the internet every time she has an opportunity. Not only is it ridiculous to call it "threats" when it's just a bunch of trolls ("IM GUN RAPE U"), but she's just victimizing herself - doesn't she fight against the victimization of women...?

She does nothing but make serious feminists (as rare as they may be) look like a complete joke.
