Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Digital Foundry: Hands-on with Bayonetta 2

The 360 version "stutters" between 60fps and 40fps though, much like Bayo 2. It runs a little higher on average, but I reckon that's a pretty fair tradeoff for a tear-free image and greater scale and complexity.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. No hard feelings man.

It "fluctuates" but in no way can you really call that "stuttering" since the frames are delivered with a much lower frame time variance ...

So, it's 720p and runs at about the same framerate as the PS3 GoW games, except unlike them it has no AA, no per-pixel motion blur, no depth of field and worse textures, shaders and lighting.

It's not the Wii U's fault since it's obviously a step above the PS360, it's the developers.

gosh, so much stupidity and haterism. bayonetta 2 is leaps and bounds above gow. much higher poly count, textures, shaders and EVERYTHING.

Stop this nonsense. Anyone with some intellgence would know that GOW III/Ascension have way better graphics than Bayonetta 2, in terms of everything except framerate.

Please just ignore him, he's an alt and will be gone soon, no reason to feed him.

A disadvantage of using deferred rendering techniques, due to separating the lighting stage from the geometric stage, is that hardware anti-aliasing does not produce correct results any more. This is the main reason there isn't any AA in Mario Kart 8. Why Bayonetta 2 aint using it is prolly for the same reason.

Expect, at least Nintendo, to stick with the 720p/60fps/no AA standard going forward.

@Bold This limitation doesn't persist anymore with newer hardware ... Although there maybe some issues of memory consumption and bandwdith constraints of what I'm about to describe with DX10 giving pixel shaders access to a render target it's possible to apply anti aliasing with deferred rendering so that can't be the reason why there isn't AA in MK8 or Bayonetta 2.

I agree. a little above 0 inteligence = some inteligence.

meanwhile, anyone with eyes and a significant amount of inteligence can tell that bayonetta 2 is far above gow 3, or anything ps360.

Let him speak his heart out, don't take him seriously. I mean, he has been talking this crap since he joined this site. Lets not bother ourselves.

I've frequently seen "stuttering" used to describe an inconsistent framerate like Bayo 1 on 360 has. I guess we just mean different things when we use the word.

I'm gonna have to fire up my 360 version but the Wii U version of Bayonetta 1 seems to be missing some minor details. It's running pretty smoothly on two screens and it's free so I can't really complain. Can't wait to finish the first again so I can jump into the sequel. Soooo tempting.......
