its funny when people say wait for holidays, the fact that we have to wait for holidays to see decent sales just proves the OP's point

it really needed a big game for the summer, had Smash not been delayed then we would probably see pretty strong August/September but now they are gonna be some of the worst months ever for 3DS.

interesting, PS4 seemed to be doing fine in the summer. Dont recall a big game releasing in June/July/August

well June isnt Summer but if u want to count that, Watch Dogs released in the last week of May which was still moving units into June. UFC also released in June.

July had Last of Us Remastered and August had Madden and Diablo III.

These Amiibos are not going to save Nintendo. They are frivolous at best, add less than Skylanders do, not nearly as versatile in terms of what games and consoles they can be used on, and are WAY overpriced for what they are. $13 for one of these! That is insane and frankly insulting when Skylanders are $10 and are the same technology, even they are overpriced but older figures can be bought for nothing, in fact...

I was big into Skylanders, bought a ton and had a bunch of duplicates. I can't even get rid of these now, I get on average about 1.50 each if I sell them in a bulk of 10 or 20. I think the toy-game gimmick has run it's course, and Disney Infinity threw their hat into things and it's to expensive I feel for casual gamers to bother when they have cheaper alternatives on mobile.

What makes people think they are going to sell games and consoles when it's just a dozen cheap figures that are a glorified memory card? If you weren't interested in the Wii U after all the games announced or released so far I doubt you are going to be interested in the figures they are based on.

Plus Amazon has them with a release date of December 31st, could be a placeholder but if not than they are missing their best chance to move these.

Nintendo can wait for the holiday. That's a good way to boost sales.

The 3DS is competing against smartphones in the handheld market as well.

That's pretty much the 3DS' problem in a nutshell, lol.

The problem with that too is every day more and more kids are being introduced to smartphone/tablet games, so its a problem that gets worse (like a cancer) rather than better.

3DS has problems that stem beyond its month to month library. It has tons of games already available too.

There's a bigger problem there than the release schedule.

And Tomodachi was a pretty big game release that's done surprisingly well and that did launch in June.

this people keep saying Smash but i imagine most of the people interested in that game already has a 3ds. I know I do. Could help the Wii U though

Well it is.  starts the 21st but i guess that isnt enough time but my point still stands. Watchdogs released in May which drives my point home even more, thats spring. Mario Kart also released in May is the effect over already? None of those games are console movers. We got essentially sports and two ports. Granted that is better than what Wii U got, but I cant see how those were able to keep PS4 from dropping to the levels of the other two. Has to be other factors for that and other factors why Wii U didnt do better. Than just games

ive found this odd too. Why did Ninty wait so long to do their own figure thing? Are they really banking on their own brand being that popular to make up the difference? I hope not that cause that would tell me that they havent learned much.

Yeah it is kind of a silly line of reasoning that Mario 3D Land, NSMB2, Pokemon X/Y, Zelda: Link Between Worlds, Zelda: OoT 3D, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus Uprising, DKC Returns, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, etc. etc. isn't enough to get a person to buy a system, but a fighting game with characters/stages based on those same IP somehow will get them to rush and buy the system.

Nintendo has basically thrown every one of their major IP at the 3DS aside from Metroid which has a vocal, but not a very large (in reality) fanbase. It even has a freaking Pilotwings game, lol.

people like to lie to themselves. I think deep down Ninty knows this too, which is why we have seen so many revisions in such a short time. They cant get more people to jump in so screw it might as well bang current 3ds owners for even more money
