Forums - Gaming Discussion - Seventh (or eighth) gen games that surprised you with awesomeness?

With the recent overhype of some games, I thought it could be fun to remember the opposite. I'm talking about those games that, for whatever reason, you just stumbled upon and thought "Heh, why not" - only to enjoy the hell out of the game. Let's keep it only to seventh and eighth generation games here.

For me, there mainly four games:

- Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (one of my favorite fps ever)

- Rochard/Lara Croft: The Guardian of Light (got both on PS Plus)

- And Assassin's Creed II (thought AC1 was kinda terrible, wasn't remotely interested in the sequel)

Wonderful 101 cause the game didn't look very appealing to me at the beginning cause of the character models but during a sale, I picked it up and I regret not picking it up sooner! Really great game imo, people should try it

Skyrim. I picked it up the day after it came out because of all the hype, and I had nothing to play at the time. Figured it would give me something to do for a week or two.
It blew me away. I took over my life. It is such a wonderful game, and really surprised me on how good it was.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I only buy awesome games so I'm never surprised :(

Lego city - The story and the characters were amazing. The visual was not bad, the missions were ok too.

Luigi mansion 2 - i thought it would be quite easy, but it was actually hard.

Mario Teenis open - visual and difficulty was good. Lots of different options to win the game.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Super Mario Galaxy, Vanquish, Xenoblade, BioShock and Mirror Edge! Those are the only games I can think of right now!
