I heard everyone who made Rare what it was back in the day left and did their own thing. I guess Rare is just a name now.

Wouldn't mean much since all the talent that made the great Rare games is gone.

If they rehired all the former talent with the reaquisition then might do some wonders for nintendo

I would rather have Nintendo buy some of Rare's more prominent IP's (mainly BK and Perfect Dark), then contract at least some of the individual studios that Rare's old talent belong to in order to provide creative input while you have another capable studio (preferably a UK studio) cooperate with development.

It would be beneficial in software numbers, but they won't be as good as before so I don't care.

Pretty much this! Hence why Killer Instinct for the X1 was developed mostly by Double Helix games instead of Rare! :S
