Forums - Movies & TV - Your top: 5 movies of all time. And reason why.

Wow, i'd have to sit on this one for a while. Never really gave it much thought.

Around the Network

Maybe I'll edit the reasons later, but I'm too tired now. Nothing original.

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey
2. Apocalypse Now
3. Taxi Driver
4. Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain
5. Blade Runner or Once Upon A Time In America or Reservoir Dogs

1. Princess Mononoke, 1997
2. Spirited away, 2001
3. Blade runner, 1982
4. 2001: A space odyssey, 1968
5. 12 Monkeys, 1995

I like animation, adventure and sci-fi. The superior craftsmanship shows in all those movie.

The grand Budapest hotel has a chance of entering my top 10, I really like that movie. But it has to age a bit first before I let it in. I've only watched it 3 times so far :)

Your top 5 is awesome as well, love all those movies, I have them all on blu-ray as well.

Tekkon kinkreet, on my rewatch soon list
The shining, masterfully filmed
Pony, I have probably seen it over 50 times at least as my 3 year old was addicted to it, never gets boring.
Fallen angels, totally mesmerizing
Lost in translation, mesmerizing in other ways

1- Ghost in the Shell
2- Fight Club
3- Back to the Future
4- Akira
5- Good Will Hunting

Mentions to: Saving Private Ryan, Forest Gump, What Dreams May Come, Silver Lining's Playbook, Spirited Away,... And plenty others I'm forgetting. In fact, that top 5 list of mine would probably change if I'd give it more than 5 minutes of my time.

1. Godzilla 2014

Because I am a hardcore giant monster movie fan and I love that Godzilla was finally shown the respect he deserves, and properly presented as a powerful force of nature reinvented for the modern era.

2. Gamera 3: Awakening of Irys

Cos I'm still a giant monster movie fan, and the way this one pushes the boundaries of the genre with its powerfully emotional story and cheese-free presentation make it incredibly epic.

3. Death Note

Call me a blasphemer, but I actually prefer the live action movie over the anime; its more concise and less distractingly over the top.

4. Death Note: The Last Name

It didn't have quite as many memorable scenes as the first movie, but it brings the story to a powerful climax far better than the ending of the manga/anime.

5. Pacific Rim

Take a wild guess... ;)

This list makes me look young and uneducated on movies but I do have seen a lot of classics and yet these 5 movies still resonate with me more than any other however much mainstream they are.

1. The Matrix - Hit, kicked, shot and blew my mind.
2. Spider-Man 2 - Who said love stories in movies were lame?
3. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Epic was invented that day.
4. Toy Story 3 - Pixar mastered the concept of nostalgia.
5. Undefined animated movie - The Lion King? Bambi? Finding Nemo? Grave of the Fireflies?

Finding Nemo is the correct answer.

1 - Shawshank Redemption
2- V for Vendetta
3- Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
4 - Curious Case of Benjamin Button
5 - Donnie Darko

These movies (and others) have yet to leave my considerations when talking about movies. They are the movies I would most likely watch for the next 50 years.

4. Fallen Angels (1995) drifter story, place to place, no firm foundations.. I like the place he is staying ;--p hidden and cute little shack.

I cant believe theres someone else loving this movie as much as I am

right now im not ready for a top5 all time list because I watched so many movies in recent years I dont know where to begin but heres one that beats them all and I plan to rewatch it soon..

Tokyo Fist (Shinya Tsukamoto)

one of the most unique movies I have watched..its a mesmerizing, powerful and painful experience.. pure experimental ,underground filmmaking at its best. tbh I would not recommend this movies to a lot of people because its one of those movies where you either hate it and dont see the point or it becomes another part of you and its stuck in your head.. but since you love fallen angels I guess theres some part of you that would also love this unique piece of art.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

1) Death Note
2) Meet the Robinsons
3) Cloudy with a chance of meetballs
4) The day after tomorrow
5) Finding Nemo

Pocky Lover Boy!
