Forums - Gaming Discussion - How would you make a game with a $500 million budget?

It's not a surprise that Bungie invested $500 million into developing and promoting Destiny. However, a part of the community feels that this game was way overhyped and that the massive budget didn't reflect on the game quality.

If they approved your game developing company a budget of $500 million to make a game, how would you develop it so it fits your vision of an excellent game? I mean, what genre would it be? How would you design it? What would you add to it? Would it contain multiplayer, co-op, both or none? If you are going to innovate on something, on what would it be? How would you promote the game?

Probably a lie that it is 500 million to begin with

Started gaming on PS3 3/6/14 :)

The game didn't cost $500 million. It is an estimate for a 10 year period.

Dat sig.
Why.

Spend 100 million on making the game + marketing. Spend the rest on hookers and sex

Why do people keep ignoring it's for a franchise of a series. not one game.

Would probably use half to get an amazing game, would use 50-100 on marketing and keep what's over :)

400 million dollars in sex, that would be a sight to see.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I wouldnt spend 500 million on a game but a max of 150. If i had no choice though i would do it like i suspect activision has done and put a max of 150-200 million in game development, server maintenance, dlc and all other costs associated with maintaining an online game. Then the 300 remaining i would put into marketing, hire people to flood gaming forums with hype, get promotional time on popular tv shows, etc.
