Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony insists Vita is here to stay - as an indie/kiddie game platform

Sony's treatment of the Vita is worse than Nintendo treats Wii U, and that's saying something.

Nintendo produces way more games and does focus on Wii U at E3 but overall advertising has to go to Vita because I remember back in 2012 that huge push on Vita commercials

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

lmao, its a failed hardcore system that the core did not adept too. makes me sad i own one :( it had so much potential

WII U // PC // 3ds XL // VITA

Embarrassing. After how great the PSP turned out, this is their successor? The WiiU is a failure as well but at least Nintendo supports the damn thing. Oh whatever, at least I can use remote play and pretend like my Vita is still getting games.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Man it's sad to see Sony not give up on the vita.

Looks like the Borderlands 2 Vita bundle is gaining some traction again in Amazon and Gamestop. Then again, summer is always the worst season for video games, so I shouldn't really look much into this.

I couldn't care less.

I'm convinced it's for the greater good. The PlayStation had their best years when there were no portable siblings. Sony knows they have something good going with the PS4 and to concentrate all support on the homeconsole is the way to the best possible success.

Hunting Season is done...

At first I was baffled by the kids approach they are taking, but then I realised, it isn't to reposition the Vita to try and eat up some of Nintendo's marketplace, it's purely for PlayStation TV the market it as a budget console suitable for younger gamers which in turn will keep Vita software flowing in the West if it gained any traction, even if it is all targeted at a younger market.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Bingo!

Sony is putting the Main " Vita"  Resources in the west market to the Playstation Tv.

The larger playstation Tv market share it gains as a micro game console the more software that the "Vita as a platform" will gain be that playstation Tv or playstation Vita. Tweaking to support both for the same software is cheaper than trying to build up for each by itself. Unity 3D work on both so its a benefit to the playstation Tv and the playstation Vita the more each one of them sell to both platforms.

I AM BOLO

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

I can't people act like the Vita is going to get advertising focus in the west. That ended on FEB 2014, and is being further cemented by PSTV.
