Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony insists Vita is here to stay - as an indie/kiddie game platform

The problem is the Vita userbase is growing very slowly due to the lack of noteworthy titles. Sony isn't taking risks on Vita so it doesn't sell.

3rd parties are ignoring the Vita because Sony is doing the same.

Just bring all those japanese games to the west and i will be fine with whatever. Especially pressure SEGA to get off their rear ends and work on phantasy star.

That phantasy star online 2 could have saved the vita.

That's the most depressing thing about all this.  Sony in the west will happily acknowledge the device as an indie machine or a kids machine, but won't do anything to promote the work that NISA/XSEED/IFI/Aksys are doing; or even their own localization work (i.e. Freedom Wars; Oreshika).

Japanese gaems in the west might not be as big as they used to be, but they're still worth at least mentioning.

Yeah it was depressing to see games like Sword Arts Online released without any word from sony. There is potential for Japanese imports to provide the system with a decent audience or at least cling onto a 30K plus baseline, but they need to back the titles somewhat. Especially when western press is mostly ignoring the games in terms of reviews etc.

That doesnt make sense since we would still be stuck in the same situation... except with one less thumb stick and worse graphics.

Doesn't it already have MHF on it?

Yeah but the chances are most people already played it to death on the PSP. I put in about 400 hours.... as great as the game is, you eventually get bored of it.

Well, it's obvious that the Vita won't be getting major games anymore. It didn't got them at launch when it had plenty of hype, no way is going to get them now when sony has all but given up on the platform

Of course, still a good portable platform if indie games are enough for you.

Yes, but just a port of an old one from PSP, it can be a decent beginning when the HW base is still small, but to become a system seller it needs a new title.

Agree. As I wrote in another post, even accepting a niche positioning, Sony should at least support more that niche it chose outside of Japan too, and put some more effort in first parties, both in Japan and WW. Anyhow, I wouldn't exclude a second youth for PSV, once it drops under $130 including a decent sized memcard and after PSP death, but for this to happen, it needs enough support to not wither before.

Sony support was not bad at all Gravity rush,Soul Sacrifice,Uncharted,LBP,Killzone.

People complain about the lack of Gran Turismo and God of war but those games are not even on ps4

In contrast the only effort by 3rd party was Assasin creed, other 3rd party has just released some late ports Activision didn't want to even develop on vita the cod game

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
