Forums - Gaming Discussion - 20 new AAA games or Minecraft

You have $2 billion to use on games what would you spend it on

20 new AAA games 345 89.38%

Minecraft 41 10.62%

Total:386

Here is a hypothetical question.

You have 2 billion dollars to spend on games for your console. Would you spend the money on 20 new $100 million AAA games or the right to create all future Minecraft games and DLC exclusively for your console?

Note: I can't gaurantee that these chartz are correct I was searching for some that were comparing game development cost.

Can't go wrong with the AAA games.

If only was so easy...

Why no Apple comes and create 400 AAA games with the money they have cashed in?

Or Facebook 100 AAA games with the money spent on Whatsapp?

the rumour still confuses me, i have to wonder what is MS's plan
you just don't invest that amount without having some kind of "plan" right? And we don't know what that plan is. Possible return/revenue

I can't believe it's as simple as "Minecraft 2". What's the point of that? What is it going to introduce/add? MC is highly moddable, is available in almost everything and is low spec. Pretty much kills chances of an equally successful sequel.

Minecraft or 100 Uncharted's ?

100 millions for a videogame?? Did they won any money after that? Also the developement of a console being cheaper than some games.

To answer the question, I would invest in new games. That's what Sony did the last gen, not all games succeded (i'm looking at that MarioKart racer clone, don't know te name) but they created two or three profitable IPs (Uncharted, TLoU, Killzone...). You can't expect all of your consumers to purchase one game, especially if everybody already has it, like Minecraft.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That is more in line of eating your competition or entering a new market. Microsoft wants to buy an IP that won't be profitable to them. Everybody already has the game, it won't make 2 billions in benefits, not even with Minecraft 2.

The $2 billion amount seems fishy to me. The opportunity cost alone on that kind of money is huge. Don't know what kind of return on investment they would be expecting buying Mojang.

As for the question. I would avoid both but i don't have the insider information of what's going on.

Minecraft, because why not.
