Send it back to MS not the store is what id do. May be a bad batch. I have not heard a peep from my launch but dont doubt it is happening

MS is replacing the noisy ones if you send it in. Or you can plug in a Kinect to get rid of the noise.... Better with Kinect!

Sounds like a coil or capacitor in a dc-dc converter circuit buzzing, explains why its bad on the dashboard (many dc-dc converters drop frequency at low power draw levels to minimise losses, but if the frequency drops into the audible range, particularly if it hits the resonant frequency of the coil or capacitor then it can be quite loud). High power draw (in game) does the opposite.

Strange that its popped up predominantly with the Kinectless versions, but again it might be a power consumption issue, or it could be that MS rolled a minor board change along with the release of the Kinectless XB1, and so its popping up now.

hmm i'd like to be there in person to hear one

because, odd situation, my xb1 does not have this but my ps4 has something that sounds a bit similar. however, the behavior is different. the noise is always there but it's quite low most of the time. won't hear it unless i bring my head next to it.

it only gets audible (more than close range) in the following conditions: splash screen (launching a game), xmb use while a game is running (pressing the PS button mid game).. it does not happen during regular XMB usage

it's kinda odd. been months since i noticed and i just dismissed it, now this worries me a bit.

it's hard to compare with what i'm hearing in those videos though so i don't even know if it should be compared

edit - ok that's weird. i tried recording with my phone.. when i play the video, even with headphones and the volume all cranked up i hear absolutely nothing except the fans. *confused*

either my phone's mic sucks or it's a different frequency that doesn't get picked up or I don't know
