I was thinking about the incredible release of Uncharted 2 in 2009 and in comparison with the first game of the franchise this was just a crazy step forward in all aspects of the game. It won numerous game of the year awars and became one of the best selling games of the PS3. 

And Naughty Dog is a studio that is trying to surpass industry standards and that is exactly what they did back then. When looking into production videos and diaries you'll also get to understand how it was possible for them to step up their game in such a way. They knew what they wanted to improve, where they wanted to go with the franchise and what was needed to get there. 

We know that Uncharted 4 is trying to do just that (also because of the added experience in remastering TLOU). However I think that the Last of Us 2 (which they'll probably have in pre-production as one of their 4 games) will probably have the same if not more advancements than the one between U1 and U2. And if this is the case then I'm afraid gaming will never be the same again because of the higher standard. 

What kind of advancements do you see happen to the second game and what kind of increase or perhaps decrease, if you're pessimistic, of quality will the game enjoy?

Savage Starlight would be a much better game to do then a TLOU2.
Fill the Mass Effect gap, before 4, and story doesn't seem like its need a continuation.
I could however see Savage Starlight, with the exact same form of Gameplay as tlou

Well, it is a generational gap, and after finally spending some lengthy time with Uncharted 3 in person, I gotta say that it didn't even look that good( some spectacular set pieces, though). While I haven't seen TLOU in person, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a UC1 - UC2 kind of improvement.

So you're saying one of the best games ever can increase by a whole lot more? If they can manage to create the same improvement again then surely TLOU 2 would be the best game ever! 

To expect to see the same jump in quality of Uncharted 1 --> 2 is absurd. Uncharted 1 was great, but The Last of Us is already outstanding. I can't see it, it'll be either the same quality or, worst case scenario, inferior.

I honestly don't see how the sequel would be better, I'm thinking this series will be like the bio shock series

Crash Bandicout Jax and Dexter Uncharted
And the 3 in each the series were great too

but thing is, i don't think they will do a sequel to TLoU, i think (since they are making U4) we will see an Uncharted 5 and than a new IP, or may be just a new IP after U4.

TLOU 2 will never be as good as the first one. Even if it is, people will pretend it's not.
