Perhaps my avatar is THE avatarless... beware your mind may burn from starring into the void.

(I have a character design as an avatar in some places which is from a game concept I have but its waaay back behind two others projects I'm working on actively.)

A lot of fighting games. Right now you have: The King of Fighters XIII, Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter X Tekken and other. Mortal Kombat and Injustice are in a lot of competitions, but I expect the former to be replaced by MK X and the second to become less popular on tournaments with time.
