If the NEW3DS is powerful enough to be able to handle a Wii conversion of Xenoblade it could handle other conversions too. It all depends on how much the conversion costs.
Why are Nintendo converting Xenoblade? The Wii version only sold 160k in Japan (82k first week) so it is not a big seller nor has it long legs.

Operation rainfal made that, Pandoras Tower, and The Last Story extremly popular games in the west amongst diehard Nintendo fans. I myself bought The last Story a couple years back (due to my backlog I didn't play much of it but the small amount I did play was impressive).

Sometimes things that don't release popularly become cult classics and make a bunch of money down the road. This is one of those moments.

For the west I can understand it, but so far the N3DS is exclusive to Japan. Is the Japanese interest in this game big enough for pushing handhelds to the big crowds?

Most of the Wii best sellers have already a 3DS version (NSMB, MK, SSB, Mario Party, Animal Crossing).

For the games that has not recieved a 3DS version: Mario Galaxy had six times more sales in Japan than Xenoblade, LoZ:TP quadruple, Kirbys Epic Yarn triple and LoZ:SS double. Any of these games would appeal to the Japanese audience more than Xenoblade.

Home consoles don't sell well in Japan, so that is why Xenoblade didn't sell well. Handhelds on the other hand sell insane especially when they have jrpgs on them.

the Specs are:

original 3DS:

CPU = 2-core 1 GHz & GPU clock at 400 MHz with 120 millin polygons

Wii specs:

CPU = 1-core 729 MHz & GPU =243 MHz with 30 million polygons

New 3DS just has a powerful CPU

I was interested thinking it'd be a Wii U release. Why would a 3DS release be an improvement? Inferior visuals, resolution, frame rate and controls don't a definitive version make.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

there is no need to ever port a pre vinous gen game on current Nintendo systems, except for 3D. For example DS games like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney & Moon Chronicles. Nintendo never releases previous gen Handheld/Home Console games on current gen system unless its 2 or so generations ago, or in the case of the 3DS, if it does 3D.

Look at Nintendo's history of porting older Nintendo games on current gen systems. And you'll see what I mean.

So WindWaker HD didn't happen? Or is that 3D?

I've thought the stereoscopic 3D would be a perfect fit for the Galaxy series ever since the 3DS was announced. However, I'd rather have the first 2 Galaxy games remastered in HD for the Wii U and a brand new Super Mario Galaxy 3 game come to the New 3DS.

It would be cool but it would suck because I won't have the new 3DS

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
