Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Could DMC4 be done on the Wii?

You wrote, "For Wii / 360 you essentially have to make two games."

I even put that in bold. The comment about multi-platform games would therefore mean games made for the WII AS WELL.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

You guys sincerely dont know what are you speaking about.Implying that this game can be ported over to the Wii is being a bit delusional. This is one of the best looking games for both the PS3 and 360 ,up there with the likes of Uncharted and Gears of War.The game looks amazing.Of course the Wii could get a version with lets say DMC3 graphics but what would be the point? And the gameplay is too fast and requires too much precision to control through waggle controls.Screenshots just dont give this game justice.

@totalwar23

Yeah, but a good chunk of PS2 owners were casual gamers, you know, the ones that love Madden, GTA, and other violent games. A good deal of those were divided between the Wii and Xbox 360 when PS3 was released. The part that would like DMC went to 360, not to Wii.

That's my theory, not a fact, have that in mind :)

I lol'd at all of those saying that DMC4 doesn't look too good to be ported to the Wii. It's obvious that you haven't spent a minute playing the game, because the game is a visual marvel, very beautiful, and looks better than probably even the most graphically impressive Wii games. There is no "so-so textures" or anything like that.

I know the game is more detailed than the OP says, but "too good" for the Wii? I am so sick of that crap.

Eh noone forced you to buy a Wii, you knew what you were getting into when you bought one....

It's funny the number of posts we see from ppls that bought a Wii and are now asking for Wii port of traditional HD consoles....

And no, DMC4 won't run on 2 GameCubes tapped together :p

Don't troll. This is your warning.

Sure, I guess. Not really my point, though but I'll raise the question of the PC version. Why? How many PC gamers are fans of DMC4? So Capcom's strategy was multiplatform but they ignored the Wii (damn you Capcom).  Likewise, the Wii got RE4 and getting Okami, MH3, not your casual games. Obviously, the Wii can handle RE4 and Okami and MH3 is not multiplatform. And...ugh, I don't want to go further-my stance on the issue is pretty obvious.

Even if it possible to have DMC4 run on the Wii the question would be why would you want to? The same with CoD4... the graphics and well as DD5.1 surround sound really improve the experience of the game. It would be the same as playing wii sport on PS3/360 without the wii-mote where the control is the big part of the experience.

First you have to prove that level of detail=gameplay. Then you have to prove that the art direction cannot be reasonably duplicated with reduced detail.

I'm not a game developer but even Firaxis which is developing Civ:revolution mentions the fact one reason why Wii version was put on hold is the art work had to be completely redone (no ps2 port to use) and they didn't have the man power to do a completely different version. Rev doesn't have any where near as nice of graphics as DMC4.

And yes graphic can and does improve the whole experience of a game which is why PS /N64 isn't the current consoles sold in stores. Gameplay means nothing to a blind man. :)

i bet it could - with slightly worse graphics but it prob. won't because I think most of the current Wii install base wouldn't really find this game interesting enough to buy it. just not that type of game....

I see this as very...very far fetched. I tend to hear more and more wii-warriors asking for ports of HD games, and quite frankly i dont see it possible. Unfortunately i dont have the notions or what not to be able to seriously discuss why, but someone brought up an interesting point...

DMC4 is coming out on PC...hold it, once again, on PC where there is no proven Devil may cry fan base, and quite frankly i see it as a healthy risk shot. So if they put it out on PC why wouldnt they put it out on Wii? Redoing the whole game from scratch, to come up with a DMC 3.5 is probably just not worth it
