So it is the same for PS3... about half of the users have Plus.

That means online paywall didn't increased the addoption.

? Where did you see the PS3 numbers? if half would have plus there wouldn't be a need for a paywall..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

It's not a great achievement for anyone but Sony. The numbers are up because you need to pay for online gaming now, not because it's a "great value". Not that you don't get lots of good games for the price, but many gamers are fine without those games and just want to play their COD against their friends and now they need to pay.

Yeah but thats the thing, MS proved people are willing to pay, why wouldnt Sony follow suit leaving the only other option as PC?? An option very few casual CoD gamers are going to bother with

"Another numbers was mentioned. 53 million users around the world use the psplus"

Removed 5 million from PS4 and wharever for Vita... and you will have over 40 million for PS3... that is ~50%.

Should be more really. Hopefully it will go up over time

Why? Not everyone plays online. Personally i can't think of a game except for the Souls games where i enjoy the multiplayer.

Ohhhhh you are right.

But do you think these others services are bigger than Plus?

I'm not blaming Sony for doing it, it was smart and allowed the $399 PS4 to happen.  Nintendo is stupid for not doing it.  My point is that it's not "good" for gamers in anyway to have to pay to play online.  Gamers should have rejected it and forced them to offer free online, but we're too stupid.  Sony is boasting about the dramatic increase in subscribers and people here and elsewhere are foolish enough to be happy about it and say it's because of the value.  No, it's becuase you have to buy it to play now, and Sony (like MS) is just now taking more of your money than they were before.

Since CoD was more popular on X360, even though PS3 multiplayer was free, it seems that paying for online is not a problem for those people. Getting at least 24, and up to 72, free games for $50 is a great value.

And it is a great accomplishment for Sony to have more paying subscribers than competition has gamers in total...

I would have thought more than one in two people want to play online and/or want a good selection of games for a year for a really good price
