No, you just end up with scripted morality plays.

No it doesn't. It increases your ability to relate to the character and makes the experience more enjoyable and thought provoking as well as increasing immersion. Unless of course you have an inability to feel or relate to others then I can see how pure and mindless violence and depravity could be more entertaining to someone because otherwise they would likely feel annoyed and frustrated.

I think it's plain from your responses that you have a very narrow view of what should constitute societally acceptable art, which is why such moral crusades are always the enemy of free expression, and therefore of art itself.

Movies didn't turn into scripted morality plays just because blackface started to be seen as offensive. In fact, movies grew to be MORE inclusive and broader in their range over time. I don't think any (reasonable) person wants video games to be %100 politically correct, but rather more inclusive to all. It's not showing more free expression to appeal to just one demographic. I certainly don't want white male brunnette macho protagonists in every game, even if I don't find them offensive.

And let's face it, it's not the social justice warriors that do more to stifle free expression. It's the people that told Naughty Dog that Ellie shouldn't be on the front of the Last of Us's boxart, or those that told the developers of Remember Me that the protagonist shouldn't be a female because it doesn't appeal to the teen male demographic. In reality, the idea that anyone but indie developers are excerising 'free expression' at is all flawed, and those responsible should be held accountable, not the SJW red herrings.

No it's really not. You are simply seeing what you want to see because I disagree and you don't understand why you are wrong. I don't have a narrow view of what should be acceptable. That would be censorship and I don't believe in censorship of any kind period. What you advocate is really a type of censorship because you believe art is best when it has no power to influence people or society which makes both art and society weaker.

I abhor censorship. The SJW movement, if it can be called that, is an attempt to denounce and reduce content deemed unacceptable by the group in various media. While this is not outright censorship, it reflects a similar impulse, which, as I have said, is antithetical to creative freedom.

I largely agree with this. The industry is mostly run by businessmen, creative expression is an afterthought.

For someone that abhors censorship you sure seem to love censoring views and discussions you disagree with. the "SJW movement" absolutely does not try to "reduce content deemed unacceptable" That is a flat out lie. If anything they only seek to discuss what they feel is wrong and why it's wrong if they in fact see something as wrong or false or lie. They do not want to stop it or prevent it, simply discuss it it for what it is. You on the other hand want to take away their ability, right, and freedom to do so which actually is censorship.

I don't necessarily agree with the overbearing extremists, but as far as creative expression goes, they are actually less impactful than the suits and the demographic the suits are trying to appeal to. I'm not blaming the audience, but to a businessman, all they SEE is demographics and the number of dollar signs associated with them.

Absurd. We're discussing it right now, correct? You honestly don't want to effect change with your discussions? You have in this thread made numerous references to the value of art effecting change and speculated that SJWs will improve the quality of video games. I find your claim quite facetious. Really, your arguments are going nowhere.

Just because we are discussing it now doesn't mean you don't want to censor those people, and take away arts ability to change both people and society. Especially since you have admitted just that earlier. You say my claim is facetious yet the history of video games, movies, books, music, all art forms proves it to be fact. Hell The Last of Us alone in video games proves it to be fact. So far my arguments have proven to be right and proven that you are not only wrong, but you don't understand why you are wrong or really the topic you are discussing. Which apparently is "nowhere" a concept you clearly fail to see is the direction your arguments(or rather misunderstandings) have gone.
