I hate it when devs don't have the balls to simply come out and say that they aren't releasing their games on the WiiU because 3rd party games generally don't sell well on the WiiU! >_>

The game would come to Wii U if Nintendo just had the common sense of approaching the developer and maybe also offering them some cash. How do you people think Sony got the thing on the Vita? This is Minecraft for gods sake, that game is a huge cash cow as it is, it doesn't need to release on any other platform, so if Nintendo wants the thing on Wii U/3DS then they have to work for it.

In short, if you want the game then bitch about Nintendo not being able to get it not Mojang for not just making it for shits and giggles when they clearly got money from MS/Sony for doing their versions.

Maybe if Nintendo would show some green :P

But Seriously, do you think this is solely down to install base? C'mon it's not that hard to tell 3rd Party games sell better on Xbox and Playstation. Still Sony and MS made an effort to work with Mojang. Now if Nintendo would've contacted them it would probably be on the Wii U.

Except you're wrong.  Your link is irrelevant because we have information that contradicts what you stated.  No one even needs to read the link to know that.  All they have to know is that Nintendo has been paying to publish not only 3rd party games in the west, but also reached out and completely revived and funded Bayonetta 2, a 3rd party game that was previously only available on PS3 and 360.  It's not even JUST Bayonetta 2, but Devil's Third as well.  No doubt they're doing more than just this, and they have lightened up a LOT in terms of how they handle indie devs and the sort.  All of this information 100% contradicts the statement that Nintendo doesn't chase down 3rd parties to get games, and that Nintendo hasn't "learnt anything."  You need to actually research before you go talking about something you essentially know very little about.

Except those are exclusive deals they made and paid for- which are great but that is hardly indicative of how well they work with 3rd party devs-  it is very obvious to anyone who is willing and able to take an objective look at the issue-  the proof that Nintendo IS the primary if not only issue re lack of 3rs party support -  when business after business either cuts support or. Never bothers in the 1st place-  that is a Nintendo issue and Nintendo problem -   FYI the article In the link by Emily Rogers is an excellent article and very much gives I site into Nintendo s culture and philosophy-  I m sure some things have changed since then but the basic premise seems to still be in place today

The point is not whether or not the games are exclusive (as any console manufacturing company that pays in full for the development of a game would make it exclusive to their console), but the fact that Nintendo is showing an active interest in 3rd party games.  To what extent is another question, but there's no doubt that they have been more active than before.  Not only that, but Nintendo, for the 3rd parties they DO reach out to, do work well with them.  The evidence is there, you just have to look at what some of them say about working with Nintendo.  Admittedly, most of the ones you will find are indie developers but it definitely is a start.  Given Nintendo doesn't have an all-too-bright past with 3rd party developers, it's only natural that a transitioning period will happen (and is what we're seeing right now).  It wont come all at once, and willingness has to come from both sides, not just Nintendo.

And I'm not arguing against the articles insight of Nintendo.  I'm arguing against it as a basis of what Nintendo is TODAY.  It is dated and proof is already there that Nintendo has been taking steps to changing.  Again, I wasn't trying to refute everything said or even make a comment about what is actually inside the article. I'm just pointing out that Nintendo has, indeed, been taking an active part in 3rd party relations (albeit limited).

Well said-  I can agree with you there- No doubt they are partnering with more third parties to deliver/develop/co develop more games -

Okay, a little amendment to my previous point because I'd been looking for this article for a while and I kinda take people telling me I know very little about stuff as a challenge.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-secret-developers-wii-u-the-inside-story

That article at least has the benefit of being recent and mentioning that Nintendo don't exactly communicate that well.  Also, I doubt any developers are going to come out and complain about policies, burning bridges and all so I guess we are arguing over a devil's proof.  The solution that pleases me most is just to say that Nintendo has problems with third parties.  Can't say for sure why but it's their problem and it'll continue to hurt them until they get it solved.  Wouldn't mind seeing better support for Europe and Australia/NZ too.

I skimmed and read certain key points of the article.  A lot of it I have seen before, and also lots that I already figured without people telling me (such as the quieter hardware meaning lower clockspeeds and weaker fans, due to wanting to minimize the heat so things can stay quiet).

Now, one thing I will bring up here is the fact that Nintendo didn't actually start really changing the way they did things until after the Wii U launched (though the signs of change were there with the Bayonetta 2 fund).  I think Nintendo is making an effort now, more than before, to get the attention of 3rd party developers.  Nintendo, also, makes consoles they believe would work best for them and don't consider too much about other developers due to likely a conflict of interests between 1st and 3rd party teams.  That doesn't explain everything, but I think Nintendo is in their transitioning period where they're slowly opening up to 3rd parties given they now know without a doubt that they cannot survive alone.

This is it really. Notch wants to be moneyhatted.

The real issue for me is the layer of BS slopped onto reasons for not developing on the Wii U. If they just had the balls to say "I want Nintendo to give me money like the other guys do", I would at least be happy that I'm not being lied to and/or treated like a simpleton.

Nintendo doesn't do outreach with 3rd party devs, especially not Western ones.

Their philosophy is pretty clear ... they feel that if they sell enough Wii Us based on their 1st/2nd party sales, then the third parties will come. There is no back up plan beyond that.

It WONT sell much because it has passed its peak long ago. Even the PS4 and Xbone versions wont sell much.

But as for the statement they made they are just doing the Ubisoft/EA approach. 'Our games dont sell as much as we had hoped on your console, therefore its not our fault its yours'.

Notch probably wants Nintendo to publish it, and Nintendo doesn't want to pay for it. Nintendo only pays for Japanese games.
