Microsoft Has Big Goals for Xbox One in Japan; Believes Market Share Can Change with the New Generation
We’re less than 24 hours from the release of the Xbox One in Japan and Microsoft is going to try and dazzle the local audience with a day long launch marathon, while the company’s executives share their enthusiasm and expectations.
Xbox Japan head honcho Takashi Sensui is confident that the new console has a chance in the archipelago of the rising sun, as he told the online version of the prominent newspaperAsahi Shinbun.
I want a better performance than our past consoles. With a generational change between game consoles there’s a possibility that the market share could shift as well. We have set big goals.
Sensui-san also mentioned that he isn’t afraid of the competition with mobile gaming, which is currently extremely popular in Japan. He thinks that one can play on his smartphone outside and on his Xbox One at home, allowing for the coexistence of the two platforms.
