I think EA should've of expected this, why they thought getting rid of key game features was a good idea I won't know. They might've had an idea of the reaction from users as they didn't send any review copies out yet and no reviews are actually out yet I believe.

I"m buying it once enough exp packs restore the game to the quality Sims 2.

Critic reviews, but MAINLY Lazy Game Reviewer's review are both going to play a role for me whether I should pick up the base game or not. I'm afraid the answer is a big no. The Sims 4 is in some aspects a downgrade from The Sims 3, and in less aspects an upgrade, which is it's main problem. I'm sure it'll get fixed with expansion packs, but of course, milking one base game seems to have become the strategy for Sims games, so it's nothing surprising.. Anyway, I won't really care about user reviews.

Isn't that really how all Sims games work though? They spend a couple years making a load of expansions meaning the next game by itself can never match up until it has it's own repertoire of expansions.

Sims 3 and 4 had less features from Sims 2's base game. And took a lot of exp packs to put those things back in. Sims 2 had to most features out of all the stock games.

Your welcome. I can't buy this or Crusador 2 (later in Sept) because of it.

I'll buy it eventually, but first I want to see what mods and expansion packs add.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

The Sims 4 was released in the US today, and currently on the Amazon, the average review is at 2.0/5 stars with 33 reviews. What didn't help was EA not giving any reviewers a copy so people were not warned about the game. To compare, SimCity 5 is currently at 1.5/5 stars with 4,045 reviews.

Well it is mostly trolls at this point, the game just released and people are already writing reviews about just few hours of playing..? Just wait for the possible storm coming..

"Fantastic! Every body, EA did that again! After the great success of reboot in Sim City, fans of simulation games are wondering what the next simulation title will be launched by EA. I can't imagine how bad the gaming industry will become if EA doesn't exist in this world. For starters, EA is currently one of the best simulation developers in the world, and in general it is the leader in trends of development of various games around the world."
