Wii U wont cross 18+ million mark in lifetime.

I'd be willing to bet on that.

Want to bet?

Yes, yes I would. What do you propose?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

when people mean late bloom, what do they mean exactly. Cause if you wanna compare it to PS3 then one has to assume you mean it will take off and do those kinds of numbers. Wii U aint selling no 80mil so any comparison there is just wishful thinking. if the thing manages to sell 25mil then that aint late blooming its on track to do that.

I think if it does significantly better in years 3, 4, and 5 then it did in years 1 and 2 then it's late blooming. It certainly does need to do 80 million. Sony probably lost money on 65 million of those consoles.

Kinda sad the Wii U can't keep up with a $600 PS3.

I like playstation consoles (ps3 was my favorite last gen) , but this is why I am disgusted with their brand. Playstation brand name carries them through everything. You're telling me a 600 dollar console with little to no games can outdo the Wii U at a way cheaper price with more games? That is such BS.

What's this!?

You mean to tell me that the power of branding is disgusting!?

Plzzz tell me more, sir.

why is it BS? more games? prove it. Last i checked Sony's systems ALWAYS got supported from themselves and 3rd party. 3rd party being the key words here. Where is Wii U's 3rd party? nonexistent at this point and it hasnt even been out a full 2 years. Facts is SONY has built the PS brand up into something gamers can TRUST. That is an important word. THey have delivred the games since PS1 to now. Even when PS3 was getting its butt kicked it still delivered the games. Thats soemthing you cant say for Ninty, the reason why PS4 is selling much better than Wii U IMHO is people KNOW the games are going to come. With Ninty home consoles one can never be sure.

I agree with almost everything here except the last part. One can always be sure they will get solid Nintendo games on a Nintendo consoles. Yes for 3rd party games you are correct, but in general people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. The only exceptions were the SNES and the N64.

oh i agree with you, but thats the point of it all isnt it? People buy Ninty systems for Ninty games, BUT its not that many people. Fact is the fanbase for Ninty games isnt as big as some people want to believe. Otherwise Wii U would be doing much better and GC and N64 would have done better. And no people bought N64 for Ninty games as well, the writing was on the wall that all the major 3rd party stuff would be going to PS1 or at least they would get it first.

What's with those threads lately? What does people need to prove so badly?

Essentially people like this are positivity crushers. They see that Nintendo fans are happy that the console has been on the up and up so they have to show comparative data to crush that celebration hard and show that console is not doing as well as it could be. Maybe because they want to see the X1 doing better and can’t stand that the Wii U is selling more than it at the moment, so they lash out. Even if the data has nothing to do with the happiness that people are experiencing, which are sales are up!

Only the overly optimistic fan would think that the Wii U will sell over 25 million LT. But should that stop fans from being happy at the Wii U’s personal successes, like a big increase in sales over the previous year?

At this rate I think the generation will end with X1 and Wii U in close 2nd and 3rd positions, with the PS4 having a massive lead on both of them. Much like the GCN and Xbox compared to the PS2. But whatever, I love my Nintendo games as much I love my Playstation and PC games, and I am not going to stop being happy with Nintendo’s wins here and there just because they are coming third in the console race.

See, that's the point! What does matter is not the Wii U selling good or bad, it's about if we find ourselves satisfied with the games we experience. The Wii success left me a bitter taste in mouth because Nintendo had trouble keeping a steady pace of games ongoing so I could try out new experiences. But then I bought a Wii U, found myself playing my first Pikmin game and really enjoying the gameplay, tried out Wind Waker for the first time and be able to play IMO the best DK game released ever.

In the end, I just wonder why is it so important to make those kind of threads while the forums here are supposed to gather the gaming population, not tear it apart and divide people. We live in a time where were really unsure about the future of console gaming, and I think we should remain supportive about the whereabouts of any console, good or bad. Creativity may be the only thing left that hadn't been totally gone from this industry. As we speak, more and more studios are shutting down or moving over cheapass 1$ games on smartphones.

We need to stop pointing out how badly the Wii U sells, and start being positive about the games. It's all that always mattered, the games. And Nintendo still hasn't give up about the console just yet, as you can see with all the upcoming AND already released games that braced the Wii U, from MK8 to Splatoon. May I remind everyone that releasing that much games in a year, for two consoles, at this rate without any 3rd parties backing up is pretty fantastic to my eyes. Maybe not sufficient, but still, Nintendo fights and so you need to. We need to struggle to keep this afloat and purify the threads on VG from all the crap that some users are willing to put on it just for the sake of sensationalism.

So how do you explain the DS and 3DS? Do really only a few people buy Nintendo games?

I highly doubt it.

how do you explain N64, WiiU, GC and to a lesser extent SNES? we're talking consoles here.

Ninty has no competition in the handheld space...except mobiles just recently, which explains the massive decline in sales from DS to 3ds. Hell i would say DS sold for the same reasons Wii did, it was something different on the market.

This thread shouldn't even exist. It only makes people talk and confronting each other over some stupid facts, nothing more. Things won't change because people think Wii U is a late bloomer or because its best selling month was worse than PS3's worst selling month. It only makes us weaker. This thread was only meant to crush people's hope for a brighter Wii U's future, and that's just meaningless. That is only pure nihilism.
