There has to be a reasonable amount of Japanese support on the PS4 regardless, so you're worried about nothing. 

A Japanese developer has to support the PS4/X1 this gen if they want to make console games, that's all there is to it. 

Japanese sales of 8k vs. 15k don't sway developers, that's diddly sh*t in the large scheme of things. Especially when a platform is that expensive to develop for, the games made for the PS4 will largely be cross-gen PS3 piggy-backed projects or Japanese IP that can sell in the West. 

I had a long conversation on another forum about Japanese culture in which I was told in no uncertain terms that I was completely wrong and that the Japanese don't have any particular reason to buy more consoles/handhelds during what WE consider Christmas. Regardless of the fact they DO seem to buy more at the same time of year as we do ... The guy just couldn't see passed the fact I'd called it Christmas to the point of him not realising it doesn't matter what the hell causes the increase, it takes place! LOL

They don't celebrate Christmas but they still buy a lot of games in December. Not sure why. 

December/New Years is a traditional gift giving season in Japan. It's not that dissimilar to the US market in that respect, except they also have other holidays like Golden Week in spring which can also cause hardware/software bumps. 

It's better than it was, but it's gonna have to take something drastic to break through to "good" levels of sales.

Dragon Quest Heroes ALONE would do it. That franchise is pure gold over there.

Depends on how you define "saved". However, it does have a good lineup now and I hope that translates well to sales.

I think 'saved' is the wrong word because it would have to need saving in the first place. I'll go with an overall increase in weekly averages.
