Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think Nintendo should upgrade the Wii U like they did with the 3DS?

NO. That would be a terrible move for public and user base.

Home consoles =/= Handheld consoles.

HELL NO! That would be a mortal blow to a already small user base. And there isn't even a need upgrade it. It already has built in NFC reader which I think was what Nintendo wanted the new 3ds for.

Nope, terrible idea

well,if this renewed wii u wouldn't have games that aren t playable to the old,i would accept it!in hanhelds i dont have this problems, home consoles is a different case!

we saw major upgrades in every handheld generation from nintendo.
we never had a big upgrade for a console from nintendo...

i see soe upgrades coming, 64gb, a green, blue or yellow wii u.

I could see it happening.

Slimmer/sleaker gamepad
Longer battery life
Greater off TV play distance
USB 3.0 support
64gb flash storage
Faster CPU
4gb RAM (2 for games, 2 for OS)

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

As long as there won't be any games exclusive to the "new" version of the Wii U, I don't care too much.

But personally, I don't think there is a need to "upgrade" the console. Adding extra power isn't going to make more people buy it.

So will the Wii U soon as well? Downgrade or upgrade?

Not needed. The WiiU can play everything they want it to play at 60FPS. Nintendo doesn't much need to care about 1080p because its not something they have ever touted or pushed. Their art style can overcome the system specs well enough until the next generation. They have no tangible need for it and it wouldn't help sales at all as it is and only hurt them.

Also the number of 3DSs doesn't matter, what matters is the number of hardware refreshes: one. The handhelds have always seen a refresh when sales began to slump, they saw it with the Color, they saw it with the GBA being phased out three years later by the DS because sales slumped, and they saw it with the DSi when sales on the DS slumped.

You are making a thread comparing historical precedent with baseless nonsense.

I'm with you until you said faster CPU and more RAM. That would make it a whole new system. I would not be ok with that. The other stuff would be fine upgrades because it wouldn't affect the games like a new CPU and RAM would.
