Why are so many people angry about the NEW Nintendo 3ds?? I think we can all agree that we all love the addition of new buttons (zr, zl, and the new analog nub), and the faster CPU is more than a welcome upgrade. Hopefully that analog nub turns out to feel more comfortable and natural than it looks. The 3D effect following your face finally fixes one of the main reasons people play with the 3d off, because the moment your eyes leave that sweet spot, it hurts your eyes. They moved the annoying volume slider which used to be located on the left beside the analog nub on the XL, which we would always bump and mess with the volume. Now that the volume slider is opposite of the 3d slider, it looks more natural and we won't be accidentally bumping it anymore.
The smaller New 3ds is customizable, which most people are ecstatic about, I can see kids especially loving that feature. Now if the battery ever poops out, you can just buy a new one and change it out very easily since the rear panel can now be removed. And did I mention the brilliantly colored ABXY buttons? We can only wonder why they never continued with that color scheme, it's instantly recognizable to the Nintendo brand. Also thanx to the new CPU, browsing the internet might actually be more fast and fluid, instead of a chore. And to top it off, downloads will be so much speedier.
So what are people so upset about? It all seems to come down to the exclusive NEW Nintendo 3ds games. These games are NOT backwards compatible with the original line of 3ds and 2ds. The first one revealed so far is Xenonlade Chronicles. I feel that all of this hate Nintendo is receiving is unwarranted. The only games that will be exclusive to the NEW Nintendo 3ds, are games that COULD NOT EXIST on the current 3DS hardware. They are only able to exist due to the upgraded CPU and upgraded controller options (zr, zl, right analog nub). Otherwise, Nintendo would release Xenoblade for the 40+ million 3ds systems already on the market, they would make more money and profit. However, this game just isn't feasible on current hardware.
Nintendo will still be making a large variety of games that will be playable on all 3ds systems. It will only be games that CANT be played on current hardware and that wouldn't be able to exist without the hardware update that will be exclusive. I have a total of six 3DS' in my household, and I'll be getting the upgraded system. I'm not angry about it, I understand Nintendo and see the benefits of getting the NEW 3ds hardware.
Now, if they'd only tie your games to your account instead of your hardware I could finally start moving to digital. And switching out your 3ds system wouldn't be such a chore...
