Assassins Creed 3 Wii U Review

Originality: The formula has gotten old but the setting is new and refreshing. It’s nice to get a break from Europe and the middle East. Overall still, not the most original of games.

11/20

Graphics: This is no Arkham City. While it’s pretty at points, it is filled with so many glitches (colors appearing/disappearing, weird lines appearing all over characters faces, etc) it’s infuriating at points. I’m sure the other versions of this game looked better, but Ubisoft made this port in a rushed or low production budget way.

7/10

Art Style: There is nothing unique or cool about the art style in this game. It’s a realistic looking game and, for that reason, is rather aesthetically boring for the most part (especially in the modern world… ugh yawn*).

5/15

Story: Talk about a horrible story… at least at first. Then it got better and at points was even really good. I was quite fascinated by the father/son relationship that you go through with Conner. The overworld story was rather interesting too and I actually enjoyed the ending. I have no idea if this ending goes into AC4 and if that one crazy lady is involved in that game or not but this game actually has me interested in this games sequels (I tried the older ones out and they bored me so much).

23/30

Game Interface: They could have at least allowed you to drag and select icons on the gamepad (the icons were already there) instead of making me pause so frequently that the game lost a lot of seamlessness. Still at least it wasn’t busy or anything.

2/5

Controls easy and fluid or difficult and rigid? There needs to be at least 1-2 more combat options. I was rather annoyed with how often one has to counterattack the same way so much. The combat itself got to be rather boring and tedious.

2/5

Is it fun? When you aren’t experiencing glitches, don’t have ridiculous loading screens (not the Wii U’s fault as better games don’t have these long loading screens on Wii U), and don’t have to take down 15 enemies by using counterattacks alone, sure yea it’s fun.

Im playing through this at the moment and i agree with your review, i would give it 7.5/10. At times it can be quite brilliant and other times a bit bland. Im prob only going to play through the story , i find the sidequests are a bit of a slog with very little rewards, but there are some lovely set pieces that keep me coming back to the game.

The Wii U SKU is the superior version just because of the map on the touchscreen imo.

I don't like Assassin's Creed at all. I feel like the games play themselves. All you have to do is  righttrigger+forward. Combat is mediocre and simple compared to Bayonetta, God of War, or Batman Arkham. Stealth is laughable, no crouch option, enemies can still hear a bow kill (suppose to be a silent weapon) and the level designs don't lend themselves to stealthing around

For me as well! I kept thinking I was going to hate the game but then just when I about gave up on the game some things would happen in it that I loved. It's weird.

It is a VERY basic game and feels annoying to play throughout most of it due to the limitations of movement and combat. I hated the lack of crouch too.

Yeah, it started out very dull, twist was good, Connor's origin was good, then it got boring again meeting the Founding Fathers, then after the prison scene it started getting interesting again

I agree! It's an overall very inconsistent game to be honest.

The only good thing I can say about AC3 is it had new ideas that were fleshed out in AC4.

Down the road if/when they rerelease it, I hope they make it good.
