Microsoft Will Challenge Sony Japan’s Press Conference with a 24 Hour Xbox One Launch Livestream

Sony Computer Entertainment is going to hold a formal press conference in Tokyo on Monday, while Microsoft won’t have a keynote before Tokyo Game Show. Yet, the house of Xbox isn’t planning to be silent during the build-up towards Japan’s biggest game show, especially considering that the Xbox One is launching locally on September 4th.

In order to celebrate the launch, Microsoft will hold a 24 hour launch marathon event starting at 8 PM local time on September 3rd and ending at the same time on September 4th.

The event will be held at the e-sports SQUARE AKIHABARA in Tokyo, and those that pre-ordered the console will get priority admission to watch on-site. Those that won’t be able to attend will still be able to check it out online on Nico Nico.

The event promises many “special guests” and celebrities in attendance, live gameplay and more. Will it manage to catch the attention of the challenging Japanese audience? Only time will tell.

It can't but this should make for a georgeous trainwreck. 

MS said months ago they had a number of Japanese exclusives in the works, we have to hear about those soon. Maybe here?

Fix'd.

Wouldn't it make more sense to announce them at the show?  That way you could build anticipation for the launch.  

I have a feeling this is going to be really embarrassing for MS. I dont think having a live event with next to no people showing up will do the brand any good in Japan.

Maybe this will bring it up to a 1K baseline. Maybe.
