Forums - Gaming Discussion - WII U true failure is not the console or games.

I love the gamepad! I never lose the TV remote anymore

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Its the god damn pad.

I played Super mario bros u and hated it, Pikmen was ok but now playing Kart and Zombie U i hate em.  Are all these games bad... Is it the games, nope its the damn weirdo controler its freaking awful.  I can't stand playing with the freaking pad especially after putting in serious time with the DS4.  I cant imagine handing that weird bulky thing over to anyone and them really enjoying playing with it, this thing seriosuly is the one true failure of the wiiu that can easily be rectified and doing so might even benefit the console with a new cheapest sku.

No doubt in my mind people would like the wiiu better and it would sale better if they made a pad less sku.  Even as a companion console to the PS4 or PC this things sales potential is hampred by a single decision that clearly did not pan out by can and should be recified asap.

Ill have to buy a 3rd party add on and hopefully ican use my Ds5 to play U games, casue for now i refuse to buy a ninty controller. Extra 50 from me for this fak up they aint getting.  Seriously they went after hardcore gamers with that pad thing... wtf were they thinking.

I'm just going to highlight things I flat out disagree with and give you reasons why.

First things first. Hands down every main Nintendo IP out ranks first party on other platforms. Hands down, the games are well designed and aren't rushed. They are considered premiums in their designed genre. The controller is perfect in every way for people with LARGE HANDS. The DS4 is a kids toy that feels as awkward as the PS3 controller. And I feel sorry for you being unable to pick up the pad after picking up the DS4. Truly supirior controller on the Wii U (Aside from the Gamecube controller)

The console wouldn't benefit from a pad-less sku and for fact it would make the Wii U pretty much useless. Many people suggest this but the way the Wii U is designed the second you lose that pad you broke the WIi U.

No people wouldn;t like it better without the gamepad. They would like it better if more of these third parties properly ported games to the console and if there was more first party.

The Wii U pro controller is based on a 360 design (Which is supirior in ergonomics to all PS controllers). I don't even get why you don't want one. I've seen many people say that they can't use 360 or PS3 pads after touching it.

Lol, then return it. Love it or hate it, the Gamepad is here to stay. Don't want to pony up and get a Pro Controller? Return your console.

Good that there are different hands. I quite enjoy the pad. It's not the best controller in the world but it's a lot more comfortable that one would think.
The pro controller on the other hand is shit.

That's not true at all. I play my Wii U without ever touching the gamepad. It's a firmware update away from not needing to be on at all. I don't even turn the system on with the Gamepad.

It would rectify it from a price perspective, but the bulk of Wii U's appeal problems comes down to lack of uniquely compelling software (when most of its greatest hits so far can be got on 3DS in some reasonably substitutable form)

Nintendo's turning that around bit by bit, though. A padless version couldn't hurt to throw the bottom out on price.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It has the same button configuration of a regular controller.

I don't blame the pad. I blame Nintendo's marketing, and how they convey messages to the consumer. They're absolutely freaking terrrrrrrrible. Wii, Wii U, 3DS, 2DS, 3DS XL, 3DS LL. They are confusing the piss out of people for no reason. Most consumers are not privy to a wider knowledge base on this stuff like we are.

I still encounter people who believe that the Wii U is just an upgraded Wii that plays the same games.

Keyboard, miiverse.

I would rather if they design a sku with a smaller pad. That way people like this wouldn't bitch about it

Like I said, I never touch my gamepad. You don't need it for any of that. Only the drawing on miiverse. Anyone willing to buy a Wii U without the Gamepad won't care about not being able to doodle.
