Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think it is a good idea for Nintendo to put out a new 3DS so soon?

it actually looks really good tbh (especially with such a great price wtf) but the exlusive games thing is shit

I think it is a good idea but I am not sure if it is to soon. I mean: 3DS - 3DS XL - 2DS - New 3DS - New 3DS XL - ? New 2DS? That's a lot and the 3DS is only 3 years old. But this time it seems to be a better system not just another version. How many 3DS I have to buy to enjoy the whole 3DS experience? Is Nintendo planning to stop the production of the "old" 3DS? Are the new features so important that I really need the New 3DS?

I think there are still too many questions to answer the question of this thread. But I'm sure the 3DS will be still successfull and I think Nintendo will make a lot of money with the new system. I hope I can use my old data on the new system.

And now I stop thinking about the problem and wait what Nintendo is going to offer. I'm tired of writing "DS"^^

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

I'm not sure about that. People paid $400 for slightly improved graphics or PS3 straight ports.

Top lel.

Killzone SF

inFAMOUS SS

Bloodborne

Uncharted 4

Wild

Until Dawn

The Order 1886

Just to name the biggest exclusives. Tell me how they have just "slightly improved" graphics and how they're only "straight PS3 ports".

It was just a zinger, Dadrik. I'm a PS4 owner myself.

I don't want to derail Ryan's thread.

My bad then

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

I guess this confirms that there won't be a new handheld announced next year which is a huge mistake. I mean, sales are down significantly this year and will continue to decline. If they don't release this model in the West by this holiday season, they're basically guaranteed of another operating and net loss for this FY...

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

I don't mind the 3DS getting a every two year update but for a console like the wii u this won't make a lick of sense.

It's all well and good for an iPad or iPhone that are usually upgraded with the same architecture and instructions but how are developers suppose to deal with all these frequent upgrades on a console.

How long does it take to plan and code a core game for the current hardware? Some games take many years to complete. If a console is released every year or every two years the code will always be out of date. Sounds like madness to me. Developers will never ever get a chance to "master" the system and to get the very best out of the console because what is the point? It is going to change next year.

Even with BC games will never quite reach their full potential because the software will always be behind the hardware.
There is a reason home consoles are released many years apart.

I will be very annoyed if I cannot play certain titles because I need this model.

Will work in conjunction with Wii U, i.e this is the hybrid many have been waiting for because it can work as a gamepad? I think so.
