Except PS4 is not selling like a first year consoles now is it, no reason why its xmas sales would be held to such low standards.

Its price and domination kinda throw any comparison out the window.

the Wii wasn't selling like a first year console either, yet it still didn't beat the ratio >_>

But was that because of weak demand or because of very heavy supply constraints ?

I think it will achieve 18M at least before january 15.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

The question is more like can Sony produce that much PS4 by that time. They were expecting 17 millions by March 31st. So if Sony can make enough PS4 then 17 millions should be sold by the end of the year

It's my prediction, but i dont take VGC numbers( if they undertracked it by 700k even before crhistmas, think to the huge undertracking that'll happen at christmas...), only official words from sony will say if i was wrong or not ( but i will be right, of course)

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

september, october, november, december.

4 months.

1 month = 4 weeks

4 month x 4 weeks = 16 weeks

if ps4 sells worldwide about 120,000 consoles per week...

120,000 per week x 16 weeks = 1.920,000 consoles worldwide to the end of the year 2014.

10,1 million consoles + 1,920,000 = 12,020,000 total consoles in 1 year and 2 months in the market.

as i said, is very difficult to sell 14 million or more but not impossible.

Holidays. Roughly half of all sales in the year are during the fourth quarter. If the PS4 averages 150k per week for Q3, then that's about 6.5 million YTD going into Q4. 6.5M x 2 = 13M. The PS4 should easily clear 16 million LTD by the end of the year.

I'll handle this Shadow.

Consoles typically sell more in the month of November and December then they do so the entire year.

The PS4 has sold 5.6 million year to date. That means in November and December of 2013 it sold at least 4.5 million at launch. Even if the PS4 sells 5 million in November and December, which is extremely conservative, it still has September and October, aka pre holidays to sell a million. In reality we would see 6-10 million in holiday sales, exceeding the sales of the rest of the year and totalling 16 million+ discounting September and October.

i won't get my hopes up too much.......I say 15 mil by end of December. But i would love to be wrong :)

My prediction for ps4 sales goes up every month, and my xbox one prediction goes down every month. They had the ps4 undertracked by about 20% for 6 months. I'm putting my prediction for ps4 at 15-17 million now by the end of 2014.

17 million easy by Jan 1st. And this is still without Japan selling anything decent.

Why did you choose a baseline that is lower than PS4's lowest week so far in 2014? Also a more accurate number of weeks in the 4 months is:

Days - Sept: 30  Oct: 31 Nov: 30 Dec: 31

30 + 31 + 30 + 31 = 122 Day divide by 7 to get the weeks which is ~17.4. Not far off 16 but still more accurate.

So a good assumption would be PS4, using it's current baseline of 150k(last week closer to 160k but lets stay conservative)

150k*17.4 = 2,610,000 so you're already looking close to 13 million if it just stayed constant. This is of course not including having the generally large increases during Nov and Dec and also forgetting the occasional big releases that will drive up numbers during that week.
