I just hope Microsoft and Nintendo don't give up, and keep on fighting back.
Ps2 era domination was good, but this isn't the ps2 era. Competition needs to be there. Gamers can benefit the most if there is competition.

You guys are daydreaming too much. PS4 will hold 55~60%, what is excellent already.
We'll see 50%+ this year, which PS4 will hold for the entire generation.

I know many folks don't like it, but we're facing another PS2 right here. The gap will only grow thanks to the great first parties that Sony have built up in the last years.
Also, the curse of the third console remains intact with the X1. :P

I hope for just the opposite. Microsoft has been a tumor on the game industry lately...and I can't WAIT to see the practice of paying for exclusives (timed or otherwise) disappear forever.
Nintendo isn't going anywhere...They are still in a pretty solid 2nd place...and they offer experiences that you can't find on other consoles. (Video games are also their primary business, as opposed to MS, where games are a SMALL fraction of their overall business).
As for "competition", there will be PCs (including SteamBoxes), iOS, and Android to compete, as well as Nintendo. No, this isn't the PS2 era, but the PS2 era showed us that we can get by JUST FINE without MS in the business.
