So sales for august 23rd updated..

Xbox One and Wii U are neck and neck. Still no major X1 releases but its matching the Wii U. People still think the Wii U will hold onto this lead? Crazy.

No major releases for Wii U either. Its winning every week since May except one I believe. So yeah we think that because of those facts.

Yep! Thats becuase of Mario Kart 8, that momentum is now slowing as everyone should have expected and there is nothing in the coming weeks to really offset it. Meanwhile the Xbox Momentum will surely increase with Madden, Dance Central Spotlight, Destiny, Fifa all in the next 4 weeks. How much of an increase is need to beat the Wii U? Not a lot.

The line I've been repeating for ages is that the Wii U's biggest game (probably the biggest it ever have/ Nintendo equivalent to Halo 5) has allowed it to sell slightly above the Xbox One which hasn't had an exclusive or killer app released for ages. Its not reasonable to expect that lead to continue given the Xbox's future line up. Even if Smash Bros is released in November we can also exect XBox One to outsell the Wii U for that month as Call of Duty (1TB bundle), Assassins Creed Unity (next gen exclusive), Sunset Overdrive (exclusive), A new white SKU, Halo Masterchief collection (exclusive), Forza Horizon (Xbox Only) and Dragon Age 3  are all massive releases pushing it in november. Nintendo only has Mario Kart 8 holiday bump and Smash bros, depending on your stance you might throw in Beyonetta 2 aswell but I don't see it being a big seller.

This december will be the last time the Wii U will be competitive with the Xbox, as I do believe Mario Kart+ Smash Bros will work some wonders but after that I believe its the end of us comparing the two systems. Just look at the next gen only 2015 line up in Q1.

On another thread, I tried to tell a guy that Xbox One will never recover fully there. The Wii U will win the 2nd console prize in Europe. Xbox One will eventually recapture 2nd by a wide margin in America. We all know the console market is and will continue to track weak overall. Once a couple key Japanese centric games release on PS4 it will over take Wii U. Xbox One will again be nonexistent in Japan. While I love all systems, this is coming from a Nintendo diehard.

I'm not convinced the PS4 will overtake the WiiU in Japan unless Sony can get MH5 and DQVIIIR/DQX/DQXI combo. FF has lost a LOT of its appeal and I'm not sure XV is enough for it to get its mojo back. KH is a big question mark on how it'll do at this point.

I wrote about this on the thread asking if Sony has lost Japan. I said it was Nintendo's to lose. However, I do believe the Japanese game market is simply waiting for a real reason to buy the PS4. They aren't that far behind the Wii U on weak titles, once something meaningful releases they likely will over take Wii U. I think if Nintendo would do something substantial with Pokemon for Wii u and I don't mean Pokken - though that will be fun.

What thread is that?

Well there was a recent thread about Sony losing Japan. Someone argued that Xbox One wasn't that far behind in Europe, but I completely disagreed. I said Microsofts honeymoon there was over. Sony WILL NOT relinquish there dominance. Wii U likely will hold on to the 'second system' in Europe. Japan will eventually go to Sony once Japan centric titles hit, however, its Nintendo's market to lose in Japan.

I would be surprised if It didn't move any. If you were a madden fan you would probably want the next gen version of the game, I would expect at least a few K increase in the hardware sales.

Well I will agree it would will move some. Not a console game changer though.

I see nothing for the x1, but a lot of games that will pushe ps4's. And one game maybe 2 that will push wii u. So sub 30k for x1 and 60k for wiiu averge weeks. But dont worry, the x1 has quantom brake in the summer wich will provide a one week boost, but sadly, nothing else untill the holidays. While the wii u anounced one game for every month of the year. But I agree with you, for a fan its dificult to see your team loosing.

You're too caught up comparing XO to PS4. If those games increase PS4 numbers by 200%, they will increase XO's by 70%. Even Diablo helped the Xbox have a 11% increase this week... To say 3rd party titles  do nothing for the XO is completely naive, ask yourself why the system hasn't dropped to Wii U levels yet. Remember when the Wii U was selling 20k last summer and at a much lower price? Cross gen games have kept the XO afloat, next gen exclusives will allow it to far surpass the WIi U.

I won't keep repeating the same argument, so this is my last post before I simply let the numbers speak for themselves, if I end up wrong I'll happily admit it but I really don't see that being the case. The last thing I'll say is that there is 1k between the Xbox and Wii U this week and you've said multiple times that 3rd party titles do nothing for the system. So how is it a system with more then 9 post launch exclusives (Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Mario World 3D, Lego City Undercover, Zelda WindWaker HD, Wii Party U, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8... to name the biggest), is only barely outselling a system with 1.5 post launch exclusives (Kinect Sports Rivals, Titanfall).

I know there will be a boost from multyplats. But a minor One week boost will do nothing for the baseline is what im trying to say. Unlike nintendo games, wich may not give such big first week sales, the bump do last for a while, so it ends up being a larger total boost.

But your right, all this arguing is futile, lest just wait for the numbers. The thing is since the holidays are coming and a bunch of games are coming, to see the new baseline we will have to wait till january. Thats just to much time to keep quite.

Well I am impressed that xbox one sell about 50 k....

September til November will still be very telling. The Xbox will have plenty of big releases to prove that it is still a desirable platform for 3rd party titles, Also Assassins Creed Unity is not on Ps3/360, it should be very interesting to see the effect that has on hardware sales of the Xbox, the first real glimpse of how far next gen exclusives will push it.

I find it more interesting that the Wii U is consistently beating the X1.

The 'War' will be interesting between WiiU and XBone.

I'm surprise how long ps4 has been holding Xbox one off in america.
