Forums - Sales Discussion - XB1 below 50k this week

Xbone has to take off during the end of year. Not sure MS shareholders will accept to bleed money like that very long.

My gut feeling is that if XB1 numbers dont improve DRAMATICALLY over the holiday season, they will kill it off early next year...despite the "commitment to the brand" that Nadella expressed in his infamous memo.

Now, before I get flamed to death...you have to remember just how SMALL of a division Xbox is compared to the rest of the company.  You also have to remember that the division has lost more money over it's entire history than it has made.  If it is not profitable, there is very little reason to continue making it, advertising it, spending money on promotions (and timed exclusivity deals).  This is a VERY expensive money sink for MS, and the returns, even if they "win"  (which is very unlikely at this point), are small.  They have much bigger fish to fry over they next few years...they have to figure out how to sell Windows again, for one thing...they have to figure out what they are doing with Windows Phone (which is important in a "mobile first, cloud first" company!), and they have to repair all of the damage that Ballmer did to the company's reputation during the Ballmer years.

So, yeah, I think the "death" of the Xbox One is a definite possibility, and I think this Fall's sales are going to decide it's ultimate fate.

Xbox has still outsold Wii U YTD this year. http://www.vgchartz.com/article/251808/2014-year-on-year-sales-and-market-share-update-to-august-16th/

It may be down at the moment, but it certainly isn't out.

It will be a thing as soon as someone makes a meme out of it and posts the picture!  (my vote is for someone photoshopping Phil Spencer to have huge boobs)

the numbers are far from accurate on here. not good numbers though. this is a fanboy troll heaven thread.

I don't understand why people say this. Someone else in this same thread said something very similar to this. These numbers are decently accurate. They are estimations based on a formula that give us a good idea of the sales of these consoles. I don't know what your console of choice is, so I won't say too much, but if you're for whatever reason upset that the Xbox One isn't selling well, don't blame it on this website's tracking. And if that's not the reason, then what is the point of your post? It doesn't contribute anything to this thread.

Anyway, as a Nintendo guy, I think that it's pretty obvious that the Xbox One will eventually outsell the Wii U. It's great and all that the Wii U is outselling the X1 now, but I do not wish ill will upon the X1. I wish both were selling better than they are currently ( especially the Wii U ). However, with Destiny coming out soon, we will see a rise in both X1 sales and PS4 sales that will probably push the X1 past the Wii U in the weekly sales until SSB comes out.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

You guys just make comments without even analyzing the results. The best game to come out this past months is last of us remastered and considering that many PS4 owners are convert from Wii and Xbox 360 this is a new game to them.

September will no be any better for Xbox one, destiny PS4 bundle will dominate all of September.

I'm very surprise with the ps4 numbers in Japan no spike regardless of last of us release.

PS4 is so popular world wide why isn't it picking up in Japan not even outselling WiiU??

There are literally no games that appeal to the common Japanese gamer. It needs the Japanese blockbusters like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, One Piece, Hot Shots Golf, Dragon's Dogma, Tales of game, Souls game, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, the popular JRPGS, etc.

One Piece PW3, Yakuza Zero, Dragon Ball Xenoverse and PES 2015 are all on their way but they need to be exclusive and not release on PS3 in order to improve sales. Persona 5 also needs to be ported and release on PS4 alongside the PS3 version. When these games start coming exclusively to the PS4 sales numbers in Japan should improve.

Not a typo I meant boobs. Someone sugested that front loaded sales should be refered as having big boobs. Dont remember the name of the guy who sugested it, but I thought it was hilarious.

That was Pezus. Good idea as well

Don't forget about the gifs!

Imagine if the PS4 had no COD, no Infamous, no TLOUR, no Watch Dogs, no Ass Creed. Instead it had One Piece, Dynasty Warrior, Dragon Quest, Tales of, and a PS3/PS4 Killzone Shadow Fall. How well do you think it would do in the west?

That's the situation it is currently facing in Japan. No games that cater to their audience. Yoshi says they are aware of it, but I doubt it they'll do much to remedy the situation.

At least Dragonball and soon also One Piece will be on PS4. And some weird game with nude chicks covered by fruit acting as action heroes will probably do great. And there is also a new Yakuza game and a lot of announcements will happen next week. So also Japan will be covered starting this holiday season and continuing in 2015.

Not surprising since it hasn't had a big game come out for it in awhile

But it'll start picking up next week due to madden and cont for the rest of the year

Also this thread wasn't really needed since u can discuss it in the weekly sales thread

wishful thinking me thinks....Madden isnt exactly a system mover.
