That is a rip off if I ever saw one, pay $50 extra if you pick up kinect later

Isn't that the point of all bundles? Together they cost less than buying seperately. Its pretty common.

A lot of bundles cost exactly the same if you buy the content seperately.

No, bundles generally cost less than buying seperate. Especially in the vidja game industry.

Microsoft took a gamble with a $499 price mark for the Xbox One with Kinect sensor bundle when compared to the Sony PlayStation 4 assessed at $399. Priced equally, sans Kinect, and early numbers reflect the Xbox One recouping some lost ground, although it remains to be seen if Microsoft's console can ever catch up to – let alone surpass – Sony.

I'd love to see what numbers they're talking about.  XB1 seems to have continued losing ground since the change.

My 8th gen collection

So, the logic here is: Since our $499 mandatory Kinect bundle sold like crap because of that useless gimmick accessory, we will now sell Kinect for even more money.
Because why would we just update our firmware to enable voice commands over the headset, when we can charge $150 for that?

That's a high price.

$50 punishment for deciding you'd like to have Kinect after all. Though hopefully at least for holidays it comes with a Kinect game to make it an attractive proposition.

Will it at least be bundled with a game like Kinect 1.0 was?

Also has Xb one sold enough since kinectless for there to be a big enough install base of kinectless xb ones that want to be rekinected?

Well since people are selling them on Ebay and back to shops I guess the install base of kinectless xb ones is only growing. Growing markets are good markets.

Absolutely amazing considering people seriously thought the Kinect cost almost as much to make as the Xbox One itself.

I have never seen anyone making this claim. In fact it was revealed a long time ago that production cost for Kinect is around $75.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-07-15-kinect-costs-almost-as-much-as-xbox-one-to-make-says-dev

I've seen numerous people acting like this was a given fact.

So that was either a blatant lie or the X1 could be a lot cheaper.

Or they have stockpiles of them made....in which case it's better to sell than store more.

if someone wants to give me $148.99 for the one that came with my system, by all means let me know.
