Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Aonuma in EDGE: Zelda Wii U won't be open world the same way other games are.

Aonuma: "Since we're talking about open worlds, let's state upfront that we don't plan to have an open world in the same way other companies have been doing in recent years."

Its good news actually. It will be different. Cant wait to see the gameplay.

Didn't we already hear about something like this a while ago?

Anyway, I would like to see more gameplay cause I really want to know what he means by that

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

We really don t have enough information to say it is good news or not. He could be hedging because what they have in mind is not as grand as what has been mostly interpreted so far OR it may be something really unique that is better than the commonly held perception of "open world".

Please, dont make zelda open world. Why does everything needs to be open world?

I wanna see what this "unique" open world idea is gonna be like.

Zelda was the first open world game. And any game where you explore a world needs to be open world. The better question is why not?

Zelda U won't have a traditional open-world? Fascinating.. ( Yes, I copy-pasted what I said in the NintenDomination thread!)

So it's not going to be open-world then

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Pseudo-open world, as in the Souls games?

All I care is that there are multiple paths to the same place...going through a hidden hole in a hedge in one spot should take you to the back way in to a castle. This will allow for sequence breaking. That's the kind of open world I'm looking forward to. I hope that's what he means, as opposed to just being able to go anywhere. I'd just like more than one way to get to the same location...some requiring abilities, others skill.
