whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?holy s....t!if you also buy a wii u  ,i will go nude in public!the fact that you are going to buy amiibos, implies an undisputed success!;P  it s gold for me:Peven analysts  who aren t generous with ninty ,are very optimistic about it,hahhahahhaah i m afraid that some people will buy it ,just like a toy ,not a wii u add-on .if dont  boost wii u ,at least nintendo will earn some money:Poh ffff...k fusion why are you going to buy a few,you already own a wii u ? :O?

I've owned a WiiU for a while now.

I think the little figures will sell well and help Nintendo out financially, but without a game of their own similar to Disney and Activision's I don't see many toy purchasers actually caring enough about their function in games like SSB and supposedly Mario Kart at some point to buy a WiiU solely to make use of the toy. I believe the previous games were so successful and thus the toy lines were successful partly because of the novelty of the use of physical toys within a game and partially because these toys were necessary for a game that became extremely popular. Without a similar game I think that Nintendo's Amiibos will sell mostly to gaming enthusiasts and the currently announced functions in games will not sway many to buy a WiiU for SSB and MK if they hadn't already.

I agree but there's also parents who are going to buy that stuff for their kids..now will they buy a console and a game is a different questions. Maybe they will announce something new..

Like a few others have said I'm not sure if it will really help the Wii U sale a lot, but it financially it will help Nintendo a ton.

I'm planing on buying way to many of these things

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

I honestly don't think Nintendo is doing this quite right. I like that you could use Amiibos in Smash, but Smash is a poor choice as the centerpiece for Amiibo. Amiibo features in this particular game are neat but inessential to the experience.

Nintendo SHOULD have had Amiibos in Smash, but also had a Skylanders esque game available at launch where Amiibo were integral. This would have made it easier to explain the value of Amiibo.

Of course, Nintendo could still make Amiibo a hit with the proper marketing. If Nintendo is on top of things, Amiibos will be usable in Mario Kart 8 by the holiday. If they could integrate them into 3D World (which has as of yet not been announced) by the holiday all the better. A Wii U hardware bundle with an Amiibo would also be useful.
